I was having a conversation recently with a friend and she mentioned her "life verse". I have a verse that means alot to me and I read it over and over at times. Its a verse that gives me strength. This verse was shown to me at a very hard time in my life years ago and it is honestly what helped me get by. It is Jer. 29:11. So do you have a verse that you have applied to your life? I'd love to hear.
Crystal... you stole my idea... (I was thinking this same thing this morning and was going to ask the same question but the boys were having their time on the computer so you go to it first). Philippians 4:13 -> I can do all things through Him who gives me strength Psalm 118:8 -> It is better to trust the Lord than to put confidence in people.
Mine has to do with repentence, forgiveness and being restored. I love the entire Psalm 51, but here is a short bit that really is my prayer many a time: Ps 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. 11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. 12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. 13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.
I have so many favorite verses, but this is my favorite: Galations 2:20-21 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing. This brings me comfort bc it reminds me that I have done nothing to deserve God's love and He lives in me. He loves me and has changed me for His glory. It also helps a lot during those times when I am feeling like I am not doing enough. It is comforting to know I am free and God's grace is enough. This is a great thread. I love reading all your favorite verses!
Brenda thats too funny that you were going to start the same kind of thread! I love reading about everyones verses!
I have lots of favorites also, but my VERY favorite is below my name. This world is so stressful that it's nice to know God can give you peace that the world just can't give you!!!
Crystal, Do you write what the verse means to you, as well as writing out the verse? Just curious as to how you do it.
Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for the good to those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose
Jen, That's one of my favorites also. The text I said (John 14:27) somehow makes me feel, as I read about the peace, that I can give an audible sigh of "release" I guess you could say. Then I feel more relaxed. Other texts are great, I just don't experience the actual feeling like I do with the text from John. Though when I hear some in sermons or read them on my own, I agree wholeheartedly and thank God for His promises! Does anyone else have a text that they feel something like I said when they read it?
Deena, I think for me personally verses are part of a healing process, so yes I do sometimes write down what I learned or how I am feeling or even my prayer to God. Jer. 29:11 is a strong, powerful verse for me. I held on to that verse to get me threw a horrible experience. I have recently gone back and tore out pages from that time. I am healed and only want to reflect on how far God has brought me.
