A couple of weeks ago, I got a bread machine on Craigslist for FIVE dollars! And it works great! My third batch of dough is whirring around now. I'm making an oatmeal/honey bread tonight. So far, we've made regular white bread and a batch of cinnamon roll dough. Anyone have good bread machine recipes to share? This model makes a 2 lb. loaf. (Which reminds me...can you make smaller loaves or would they burn? Some recipes I've seen are for 1 or 1.5 lb. loaves.) Thanks!
I gotta dig it out....but I have a recipe for a dijion thyme bread that is awesome! (well, when I could eat bread, it was awesome!). I'll try to dig it out later tonight.
Kari, PM me your address, and I'll mail you a good book. I've used a bread machine in the past, and don't like them at all. I'll never use this book, so you'd be welcome to it.
I could use some good recipes too. I have a good one for Sally Lund 1 cup water (warm it up for about 30 sec in microwave) 1 egg 3 tbls margarine or butter(I think that what it is not tsp, 3 sections from the wrapper) 3 cups flour 1/3 cup sugar 1 tsp salt 1 1/2 tsp bread machine yeast You cook it with the white setting, light crust and for 1.5 lb. Since Sally Lund rises alot this recipe a loaf that fills the pan with out. this is dh's favorite.
Sorry, I don't have one any longer, so no recipes to share. Just wanted to say that I feel the same way about my KitchenAid mixer.
Thanks, Mschickie! I will try that one. Here is the Oatmeal Honey Bread recipe: For a 1.5 pound loaf: -1 cup water -1/4 cup honey -2 tbsp. vegetable oil -3 cups bread flour -1/2 cup quick cooking or regular oats -2 tbsp. dry milk -1 1/4 tsp. salt -1 3/4 tsp. yeast For a 2 pound loaf: -1 1/3 cups water -1/4 cup honey -2 tbsp. vegetable oil -4 cups bread flour -2/3 cup quick cooking or regular oats -2 tbsp. dry milk -1 1/4 tsp. salt -2 tsp. yeast Put all ingredients into your bread machine in the order it tells you to use. Bake on the sweet bread setting.
