HEllo! I need to get excited about next year enough to set up the lessons for it and plan what I am doing.... So far I am excited about MathUSee for dd, and I may have an art book for ds, not sure yet.... I want to get things ready this year DURING SUMMER BREAK!
So....I have collected the ideas off of Dalynns thread on the sheets to fill in assignments on.. will do HOmeschool tracker as well maybe for ds, dd doing sos helps with that for me.... but I want to be excited and organised and all that good homeschool heart stuff... but its almost summer and I have the "let me out of school" attitude... So please share your joys! Tell us what you are doing and what is the most exciting find you found! Please and thank you so much!

TMom, last I saw your dd was probably going to do TT, I thought!

Yeah, lots of changes for this year!

New things I'm excited about for dd:
Rod & Staff Math along with supplementing with Singapore Math
    NOEO Chemistry 2
Rainbow Science (to do after NOEO is done--just got too good of a deal to pass it up!)
    Lightning Lit 7
Trail Guide to US Geography and Geography through Art--we'll do those together for the Geog and Art part, and do it along with All American History
    Dandy Lion Logic

New things I'm excited about for ds:
    Life of Fred Maths
    Lightning Lit 8
Jensen's Vocabulary, Punctuation and Format Writing
Starting his preparations for the PSAT/SAT
Spectrum Chemistry--maybe do next year, maybe the year after
May start Hebrew along with his Greek

I still have to look through everything and organize it all, but I've been having lots of fun researching about and finding good deals on these things!

I am really excited about next year. I will have two of my boys to homeschool instead of just my YS.

Thanks to this website I have found so many neat resources like ambleside, and in researching their materials, I have found the most wonderful things. One thing I found on Amazon was called Poetry for Young People, I can not wait to buy the whole set of those books! Its poems from all of the great poets done in a way that young people can enjoy them and has rich illustrations for the kids to enjoy.

I plan on doing a hybrid plan next year, half ambleside, half SOS and a few workbooks that I want the kids to do like wordly wise and grammar rules. I did not know much about CM before I came to this site but I do like some of the concepts of a CM education, especially the Literature. I cant wait for the boys to read the classics!

Also thanks to this site I have found the most wonderful art resources and I cant wait until I can get those books too. Now I just have shopping fever and cant wait until I can start buying some of this stuff.

I am going to do two because I am not sure that either will last the whole year. I am going to do the Thomas Kincade art that Alpha Omega has. I cant post a link yet but they have it on Christian Books. I am also going to do the one called Artistic Pursuits that someone recommended from this site. I looked at it and it looked really good.

Deena my dh an dd decided they both like the MUS so they chose to order it, they bid on some parts we need from Ebay and then will buy the rest from MUS or wherever they can find it.
Dh liked the way he uses ( teacher) the block magnets ( we have had some of these since our first year and have not used them in years!) and how he explains in visuals what its all about. HE said he understands Polynomials for the first time, really understands it after watching the videos...
I looked at the Fred math it looked like all stories to me, but I am seeing lots of you folks saying you re getting it, maybe Ilooked at the wrong subject hehe.
I think Geometry may be easier than Algebra 1 was for dd. Its more her way of thinking.

I am excited to start MUS. I am also excited to start a brand new approach to our homeschooling. I can't wait to order everything! I am even excited to learn all I can about ancient history...something I never cared for while I was in school. I cant' wait for the year ahead! I think I finally found a method that suits my family to a tee! We will see!

I'm really excited about history for next year- we're using the Core 3 books from Sonlight and I pre-read them all and they're all so good and interesting, I learned a lot! We're going to integrate our own family's history into it, so we can talk about what life was like for our ancestors in 1770 or whenever. Hopefully that will make it seem more real to the kids. I'm trying to make school more fun and not such drudgery, and give our boys a love for learning, especially since we have active boys who would really rather not be studying!

Ok, I'm just going to be honest...

I am excited about next year, but I am most excited about summer break! I will finally have some time to catch up on some projects around the house and it's going to be glorious to scratch those things off my to-do list!

We start our new "homeschool" year in January. I am currently working on getting our materials. I have not decided between SOTW and MOH. I may use CHOW to uspplement as well.

I guess we have already started what you all consider to be next year. Since my oldest would have started in the fall but we decided to start last week with them both (the younger one is too young for school according to the schools but according to him he's just like his big brother) And we are already excited...the boys love it so far and we've covered so much material! I also can't believe how well everything is going thus far I expected the first couple of weeks to be kind of hectic but nope just sailing right along, we've only had to "tutor" the little one once and now he's right up to the older child again! I'm loving this year, and I owe a big thank you to all of you who helped me find the right curriculum and make the best choices I could, and of course just being there to tell me I'm doing the right thing! THANKS to all of you, I couldn't have done it without your help! :D

I'm with you!! I'm excited about some new things we're doing next year (R & S English, A Child's Geography, IEW, etc) but I REALLY need a break to finish unpacking the garage. When we moved in, we put most of the non-essential things in Rubbermaids and they're stacked to the ceiling in the garage until I get to them. I'm so tired of having to find things that seemed non-essential at the time

I not only have picked out everything for next year, we ORDERED IT already! :)

For the first year ever, I am doing the same "theme" for all 3 (ds 11, dd8, dd6) - we are doing history of western civ through the renaissance. For the younger 2, we are doing a lot through Story of the World - my ds will piggy back, but he has his own resources, and much of what we do with all 3 focuses on literature. I picked up a bunch of fun stuff like to go with it. For math, it is singapore again. I am trying to make science more significant this year, as all three of mine list science as their fave subject - we are doing Earth science with all three, adding Chemistry to that for ds, oceanography/life science for dd 8, and life science/animals for dd6. I am so excited for next year - I had a blast picking out resources!

Since next year will be our first, I am very excited. We have decided on Explode the Code and Math U See for Amanda. Katie will do Saxon math, and reading of her choice - I just want her to like reading again!

We have talked about unit studies and already have things to take to the beach with us this summer.

Okay now I am even more excited! I spent hours yesterday working on the 7th grade weekly schedules and I now have the entire 7th grade year borken down into weekly plans! 36 weeks took a long time to do but it's done. I'll be ordering soon!

I am very excited about doing Kindy with Grace. It'll be nice to work with a child that has no public school mentality, no preconcieved notions. We'll be using ETC and MUS with her.

You all are doing such a great job! Congrats on those just starting that are doing so well! Birbitt, your boys look adorable! :D

I have most of the stuff sitting right on my shelf! :) It's been ordered and got here already, and I can hardly wait too! I do very well at researching what to get for each child, and ordering it, but now I need to read up in the teacher's books and figure out the scheduling.

We're kind of pooped out of school right now too. We'll finish up next week! We'll have something going on almost constantly throughout the summer, so we'll have to try to stick schooling, probably mostly math, in there somewhere now and then.
