About a month ago, when we started talking about the end of our school year, the kids were like, "But we won't get a pizza party, will we? We always get to have a pizza party on the last day of school..." So, I'm like, sure, we can have a party...and it can be even more fun than the one you'd have had at school! We invited about a dozen friends over for pizza, water games and ice cream. They had a blast playing on the slip-n-slide, the sprinklers, and having water gun fights. We also set out sidewalk chalk and paint so my driveway is quite decorated now! It was overcast when we started, so I forgot to apply sunscreen. Both of my boys are quite red tonight and I feel bad about that! And speaking of being a bad mom, I forgot to take a single picture for their school scrapbooks! But they had a blast, and agreed that this needs to become a tradition. With their birthdays falling in January and March, they've never gotten to have a "summer" party before. So this was just really fun for all of us! And it feels GOOD to know that school is finished til August. WOO HOO!!!!!
What a great idea! I'll have to add that one to our schedule. One of our special celebrations is the first day of school. We go out to a special breakfast and set our goals for the year over some IHOP pancakes. So we'll begin our year with pancakes and end it with pizza!
OH cool< I was just thinking of how my ds16s school has a big party at the end too and thought we would have aparty for the kids! What a cool idea! Mine are a bit older though so we will probably do like Pizza and movie with home made ice cream or something with friends... maybe even a rollerrink excursion? Or smething fun anyway!
that is so cool, sure glad you all enjoyed yourself we went to a China place for supper with daddy and had a good time.
Ummmmm, my invitation must have gotten lost in the mail. Seriously, I am glad you all had a great time. Sounds like a nice tradition to me.
Don't feel bad about your lobsters. We celebrated our end of school at Water Country USA (the water park near Busch Gardens Williamsburg) the day after Memorial Day (when DH had the day off). I DID apply sunscreen (and re-applied)......still had 3 lobsters (2 kids and DH). The other kiddo was pink and she never burns....I was a bit red myself.....but we had a WONDERFUL time!!! Glad your party went so well too!!
That's a great idea! Glad they had fun! I had thought of the same thing sort of, not as a yearly tradition. But because I had decided to put my oldest into Kinder this year with the baby coming. . .but we took her out 3 weeks early b/c her going to school wasn't a good fit for our family anymore (or ever really!), but we were really getting sick of it, and she'd BEG me to just take her out! Anyway, her class had won a pizza party for being one of three classes to earn the most money for technology equipment, and she ended up missing out on it. So, I was thinking of inviting over a few friends and having a pizza party for her.
Sounds like a very fun time! Even with the sun burns at the end. We celebrated the end of the year with a camping trip Mother's Day weekend. We always do something fun to celebrate.
