Do any of you use planners? If so what kind and how? I have looked at some on line ( donna young ) and similar sites. So far I haven't found anything that I really like. I have used the one christian liberty provides, I liked it the best out of all of them, but I didn't stick with it. I ended up over planning and it didn't work for the kids. I am open to any ideas.:)

I made my own recently, though I've not tried using it yet. ;) If you click my name and search threads I started, you'll find it uploaded in a PDF. The thread itself is full of ideas, too!

*goes to look at CLP's planner*

Here is the planner I am using. http://shop.scholastic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay_24051_-1_10001_10002
I have three kids in school now and can see two weeks of work. The last school year I planned a month at a time, and that worked really well for us. During the third week of school I would plan ahead for the next month. If you schedule 2 children's work you could have 3 weeks on the two pages. One child per page.

Here is another site that is full of planners: http://www.currclick.com/advanced_s...earch_in_author=1&search_in_artist=1&x=10&y=5

I just checked out the currclick sight. I really like the student planner. The christian planner looks really nice too. Thanks for the tip. Now I just need to get myself to stick with it.

I just ordered mine for the fall from here:
    http://www.goodnewsplanners.com/08_Christian.php

I love all of the features - all bringing the scriptures to the forefront of our daily and weekly activities. The price is very reasonable too.

If you click on the student planner and then scroll toward the bottom, you can see samples of the planner pages.

I never could find what I wanted so this year I created the forms I wanted for planning our lessons and logs for their grades. I put them in page protectors and I have everything contained in a thick binder. I have folders in there also to hold anything else I may need. It turned out really well so I'll do the same for this coming school year.

I am currently using homeschool tracker basic (on the computer) and love it. I print out the page for the following day and get everything ready (for DH, of course, since he's doing the schooling right now). Having it printed out allows him to mark off what was actually done so I can go back in when I get home and update things. And the software makes it super easy to change the due dates on assignments/activities.

I love Homeschool Tracker. We used the free version for about a year. I just recently bought the paid version. It has even more cool stuff you can do, like create lesson plans, journals for each student, print transcripts, a place to enter extra-curricular activities & standardized test scores, plus more. The basic (free) version is good. I really liked it. That's why I upgraded to the paid version. I like the paid version even more, though.

That's good to know! I guess I wondered how the paid version could possibly be better since the free version already had everything...lol.

I'll probably get it at some point next year. I don't have to log until the following school year (2009-2010) but I'm sure the lesson plan aspect will convince me to purchase the full version before then.

Every year I started with a planner and mapped out at least the first 6 weeks of school. And every year we fall behind by the 3rd or 4th week. Either it took longer to complete a project or doctor appointments or... you get the picture. Anyway, I decided to just do a basic outline of the goals I want to accomplish in the first 10 weeks. That way I know where I'm going, but I'm not tied to the schedule. My ds can explore something more in depth if he chooses, and I'm not feeling guilty because we're behind. So I won't need a planner, just a notebook. That way I can list my library books and their return dates (I supply the library's wages with my overdue fees :) ) and I can also note any supplies I need for projects and field trips we've taken. Then after the 10 weeks, we will take a 1 week break to finish up any projects or go on fieldtrips. During the break, I'll write the goals for the next 10 weeks. This is the first year I've tried this so we'll see how it goes. :D

This sounds more like what I do. Just better organized. My dds are only 8, 6, and 3 so I am still figuring out what is going to work for us. I have tried planners but I run into the same problem of finding ourselves behind after the first couple of months.
