My oldest 2 girls were homeschooled all but 3 years in grade school/jr high level. They are both in college with families of their own now. The younger 4 will be in K, 3rd, 5th & 7th this fall. We use Christian Liberty Academy & have been very happy with them & the cost is affordable with a large family.

Looking foward to getting to know other homeschooling moms.

Wow, 53 acres, I'd say that is a big garden!

We almost bought a house in southern IL a couple of months ago, in Golconda (Pope Co.)

    Welcome!

Welcome to Homeschool Spot! :) Southern Illinois is pretty. My family used to live in Urbana, and we would go to a park in Dixon Springs sometimes to go hiking.

    Welcome!

I grew up in Mt. Vernon (after my dad got out of the Army) but my parents were born and raised around Mt. Vernon too. Now my dad lives on Lake of Egypt outside Marion and my mom & sis live in Lake St. Louis, MO.

We'll actually be making the long drive from VA to MO/IL next month. I can't wait. Haven't been there since the Army moved us from KY to VA in early 2007.

Glad you found us here at the HS Spot!

Welcome! I am new to the spot also! I am 30, have two children with my wonderful husband-Abby 7 and "Buddy" almost 5. We use CLP also for both our kids. We decided on the curriculum mostly because, I was home taught using Christian Liberty 20 years ago! So far, I am thrilled with it for our kids, and the price is right too! Oh, and I grew up in northern Illinois, now am in southern Wisconsin. Welcome again!

Sam no I don't have any pics of the garden this year. Been too lazy to go take them. LOL

Rhonda I live 25 miles south of Marion. I am like in the middle of Harrisburg & Vienna. I know the area you are talking about. I have lived here about 13 years & originally I'm from central part of the state (30 miles from Terre Haute, IN on the Illinois side).

Wolverine I used to be from that area was 30 min from Paris & I used to go to church in Paris. Small world isn't it.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes to the board. :)

All too familiar with the Harrisburg/Vienna part too......used to play them in school sports in junior high, etc. I spent practically my whole life in southern IL (from about age 5 until I left for college and then moved back for 18 months when my hubby went to Saudi Arabia for Uncle Sam and I was pregnant with #3). Never would have imagined that I'd birth an Army brat in Mt. Vernon  but that was better than in California by myself (which was our last duty station before Saudi).

The kids enjoyed living near their grandparents and cousins for those 18 months and I enjoyed being a part of the church I grew up in.

    Welcome

Hi and welcome. I am new to homeschooling and to this site. My husband and I have 3 children, 2 daughters ages 13 & 7 and a son age 3. We live in the very southeastern corner of Nebraska, so a rural farming community. I look forward to getting to know you more.

Have to ask if you like chocolate or if there is another reason for your user name? Just another chocoholic here.
