Yesterday I was standing at the kitchen sink doing something and Babyboy (he is our unofficial grandson who is hearing impaired and will be three in Sept.) came up to me with a plastic chicken in his hand. It is one of those that lays eggs when you mash it down but it was empty. He said, "ook Gran, duck". I said, "No baby it is a chicken". He stood there a few seconds and said, "duck Gran". Again I said, "Sweetie it's a chicken, you know cluck cluck cluck, a chicken." Well he said, "Duck, Gran, duck." This time I turned and looked more closely and sure enough there was his sweet little hand sticking up at me with his thumb "duck" in the hole where the little plastic eggs or jelly beans are supposed to come out. He wasn't hurt and his thumb came right out and I learned to look more carefully at ducks from now on. I wasn't going to add this but I might as well confess. When I realized what he was really saying I said, "Oh sweetie you've got your thumb stuck in the chicken's butt!" Thankfully he didn't pick up on that and start repeating it. His mom got a good laugh out of our duck story. Beth

Babyboy's mother keeps a memory box for him. I think I will write that story down and ask her to put it in his box as a memory from Gran.

That's a GREAT story! :D And I agree, this one DEFINITELY needs to go in his memory box!

Today in Church (remember we go on Saturday), a lady was doing a Bible trivia question time, mostly for kids. One of her questions was this: "What was the only animal (not reptile) in the Bible that talked?" A little boy waved his hand in the air, so they took the roving microphone to him and he said, "EVE!" I told his mom she had to put that one in his memory book!

    Kids are adorable!

Deena, I love the stories about things kids say in church. One that still haunts my mother is when she took my nephew to Sunday School with her. His teacher was my mother's next door neighbor. She came to my mother after the class and said Ian had been listening to the story and when she started asking questions about what they remembered from it he suddenly said, "now don't go asking me any questions about that stuff, I don't go to church." My sister really caught if from Mama over that one. The little rascal was only 5 at the time and they most certainly DID go to church. He was just being Ian.
