    Hi!

I am Rebecca, homeschooling momma to Bryce who is almost 9 (4th grade) and Scotty who is almost 5 (Kindergarten). This is my first year homeschooling Bryce and kind of my second year with Scotty. Bryce's dad has only this year agreed to let me homeschool him! I am thrilled! We decided awhile back on the Calvert curriculum and right now, we are just waiting to start our formal school year.

For summer, we have been doing:

Scotty - Horizon's Math K, ETC Book 1, BJU Science 1, 100EL, Bob Books, Calendar, Bible Lessons, and other fun things.

Bryce - Writing Strands 3, Horizons Math 3, Spelling Power (which we are keeping even after we start Calvert), Bible Lessons, Reading chapter books, handwriting, and Winston Grammar just to pick up the lags from public school (I won't even go into how he was a straight A student who won tons of awards in PS only for him to come home and me realize that he can't write, can hardly spell, etc. Whoops, they don't teach that until 5th grade!)

Can't wait to get to know you all!

Welcome to the Spot! This is a great group of people who have been the best HSing resource I've found to date.

Welcome!! The end of your post made me laugh...when we started homeschooling in March 2007 (when we moved to VA), my oldest had been in the gifted program but I quickly found some gaps or just discovered things they didn't ever do. Of course, I'm sure she'll have different gaps at home but at least I get to "pick" them

    Welcome.

You reminded me of how thrilled I was when DH say yes to homeschool. Now, I enjoy it very much. Hope you do too.

See you around in the Spot.

    Welcome!
My husband was slow to get on the hs bandwagon and still says he has to "renew my contract" every year, but he is very pleased about what we are doing.
When I brought my "top student" daughter home in 2nd grade, I was surprised by the lack of basic skills as well.
    Best wishes!
