    Um, here it is.

Seriously, I broke my scale today. I guess I stepped on it wrong, and it cracked near the bottom of it. It gave me 5 different readings 5 times in a row - one as low as 198 and one as high as 227.

So, I don't feel right weighing in right now. LOL I'll try it in the morning. Wednesday it said 214 (which would mean a 2lb loss, I think) and Thursday it said 218 (which would mean a 2lb gain). Let's hope and pray for the 214....

Anyone have an idea for a focus for the week? We'll be going on vacation Sunday and won't be back until [at least] Thursday. We're going camping at Huntsville State Park; I'll probably post a separate thread. Plus I'm going to see Susan Wise Bauer on Saturday in College Station! YAY!

    Okay. Focus ideas? Anyone?

I'm still 215 so no loss. I have the hardest time losing weight no matter what I do. It's very discouraging. This week I am going to do a cleanse because I've been feeling so poorly lately. Hopefully once I flush all those toxins out I will feel better.

Maybe those of us who care to, could join Amy on the cleanse and that could be our focus--IF you'd care to share and lead the way, Amy.

I, too, gained another pound this week--maybe too much taste testing of blue punch recipes for a baby shower!

There are several ways to cleanse and I don't want to endorse anything because you should talk to a doctor first. :) But I will tell you what I normally do and what I'm doing this week.

Today and Tomorrow I am drinking only juices. It's best to use freshly squeezed juice but as this is pretty expensive and I don't have a juicer I use Naked Juice. You do not want to use processed juices with sugars added.

Starting on Sunday I will go to a water fast. I will do this 3-5 days depending on how my body feels.

Fasting is a well proven method to help your body heal and cleanse itself. This is NOT a weight loss method! It is done to promote health and if you want to do it to lose weight I strongly recommend against it.

I also do a salt water cleanse a couple times while I'm fasting to clean everything out. If you decide to do it remember to do it at a time you can stay by a bathroom for at least an hour.

If you don't want to be extreme, even one day of not eating can give your body time to relax and heal itself. Simply drink nothing but water or fresh juice for one day. If anyone has any specific question I'd be happy to answer them as long as you remember I am not a doctor and not recommending you do anything. :) There's quite a lot on the internet about this subject if you want to read more just google it. (Remember there are quite a few nutjobs out there).

Well, today I weighed myself here at the house, and it said 149 lbs. Sigh.... So here's what I decided. I am hereby officially withdrawing myself from the competition. That means I will still be sending something to the winner, I will still post, etc. what my weight is, but I don't consider myself as part of the contest. From now on, all my weighing will be done at home, even though I don't consider that scale as accurate. This week I didn't make it to Curves at all, though we did go bike riding with the family this morning.

I lost .2 lbs. this week. We've had VBS this week, and I'm EXHAUSTED!! I was hoping for a bigger loss, since I was on the run so much. I know I didn't eat as much as usual, but I also didn't eat healthy this week.

That would be disconcerting, Jackie! I'm sure no one would mind you staying in, even though the scale is inaccurate; but either way, it's fun to see eachother's weight go down, so please do continue to let us know.

Amy, thanks so much for sharing what you're doing! I don't know why having someone along beside me, doing approximately the same thing is such an encouragement to me, but it is. Therefore, I hope to join you, starting now with the juices (albeit half a day later than you). I do have a wonderful juicer, and with it I can consume a lot a veggies, which is otherwise quite a challenge to me. The salt-water cleanse is almost more than I can do, but it helps me if I add the juice of one lemon and a pinch of cayenne pepper.

Though I can't be on tomorrow, I will be cheering for the rest of you.

I've heard a lot of good stuff about lemon and cayenne pepper. Most of the people who do water fasts I know give themselves daily enemas. That's a little too hard core for me and the salt water cleanse is an alternative to that.

It's nice that you have a juicer, I'm dying to get a good one but they are so expensive.

Jackie, I hope you'll change your mind about dropping out. I know a lot of us are having frustrating up and down's with our weight right now. Nothing's more obnoxious then getting on that scale!

    Just wondering, I'm a newbie!

Armywife, jump on the bandwagon! What we're doing officially is having a friendly competition. There are 2 teams the above 200's and the below 200's. The competition is running through September and at the last weigh in whoever has lost the most weight, everyone else sends them a small gift.

We weigh in every friday. You can be part of the competition if you like. Or maybe you would just like to weigh in with us every friday? :D

    Good Luck!

Jackie, don't drop out!!! If at the end, you feel your loss hasn't been accurate, you could withdraw then, but I'd say, make a point to weigh on the same scale at the same time each week (time of day too) and hang in there with us!!

Armywife, we'd love to have you join us! We're just trying to lift each other up in one of life's hard battles!! DaLynn is in charge, so you'll need to PM her your starting weight and goal weight (by end of Sept.).

OK, maybe I better rephrase this! I'm STILL going to weigh each week and post my weight. I'm STILL going to send something to the "winner". I'm just considering myself "out of the competition", so to speak. I don't know how much I'm actually losing/gaining. But I am NOT going to just say the heck with it and totally quit!

I'm back up to 259. Rats. I shouldn't be surprised, though... I've been helping set up at church for VBS, and I've been drinking a lot of pop and not much water. And yesterday I had way too many cookies. Still... rats. I'll do better next week. :)

Prairie Home, did you decide to do a cleanse this week? I just finished my 2nd day of juice fasting and am switching to a straight up water fast tomorrow. I'm still feeling good, though a little tired. I need to rest more tomorrow. I'm also doing a salt water flush tonight. I always sleep great after I do those.

Yep, I'm with you, Amy--that is, to whatever point I don't get shaky. Then I'll eat a bit of raw nut butter or coconut oil to stablize my blood sugar. Also, it adds few if any calories to squeeze some lemon into the water and, again, to add cayenne pepper. That helps cut the appetite. So it's water or lemon water for me today. We can do this!

It was quite a test at the baby shower yesterday not to even taste my beloved sister's cake! It was beautiful, and I told her that; but I couldn't brag on how delicious it was, even though it was one of my favorites: carrot cake. I had my own little jar of juice in the 'fridge, and I did nibble on a few nuts, just to not draw attention and invite a lot of questions.

All that to say, Amy, in this case, I'm not a "purist." Even so, I've begun losing again in the last two days. It's been said that our bodies are never "static." They are always changing--either gaining weight or losing, hour-by-hour, even though the scales may remain the same over the long run. So now that I'm back in the losing mode, I hope to keep it that way.

Best wishes to all of you!

Oh it's so hard to be at those "eating events" and not be able to eat! We took the kids to IKEA yesterday to pick up a couple things and have lunch in their cafe. It's one of my favorite places to eat but I just sat there sipping my juice. :) I'm onto water this morning and hoping everything goes all right. The first day is always the hardest for me where I feel really shaky but if I can make it to the next day I start to feel really good! I'm not doing this to lose weight and it's a good thing because I'm not! Two days of juice fasting and my weight has not changed one bit! Can't win for trying! Anyway, good luck today!

Just checking in to see how you're doing, Amy. My weight can fluctuate wildly, and I don't have Jackie's scale, either! My metabolism responds quickly to what I eat or don't eat, which is a real challenge, because my weight can spike and just keep going up.

So far today I've just had water, the juice of 1/2 lemon, and a pinch of red pepper. I'm praying for you.

My focus for the week is portion control. I am trying to eat at least 2-3 cups fresh romaine lettuce with lemon juice at each meal.

I am doing weight watchers at home and 1cup of carrots and 1 cup of green beans are my free foods (zero points). I have alot of veggies to choose from that are zero points:

    Prairie,

Doing all right tonight. I felt pretty weak earlier and so took a long nap and that seemed to help a lot. I'm looking forward to today being over, the 2nd day is always much easier for me. On the other hand my dh is going back to work tomorrow so I will be cooking for my kids and that will be difficult.

I weigh myself more out of curiosity with what my body's doing than anything else. It always amazes me how my weight can fluctuate so drastically.

I hope you're doing well. I'm aiming for hopefully 3 days of water fasting. SO one, almost, down and two to go.

    Amy
