Anyone here work from home? If so where do you work and how can I get hired. I know all about the scams out there. I know I should never have to pay to work for someone. But I don't know how to find a good company. I was told that www.westathome.com was a good company to work for and also Alpine. Alpine actually has a matching 401K and also offers health insurance to their employees. They are considered part of the company and not contract labor.. But they want a quiet work environment.. I have 4 kids that I homeschool so can't do them. I want this to help pay off past debts so we can get our credit straitened out. We want to buy the home we are in within the next 5 years. We could do it on hubbys income but we would be VERY broke. Anyhow if there is ANYTHING out there please clue me in.. Thanks a ton Angela
I have heard good things about both of those companies. I checked into the West Company myself. I have a pretty significant hearing loss, so phone jobs are pretty much out for me. I have trouble understanding people I don't know on the phone. I'd like to find something just to put on debt, too, but I haven't been successful at it. Anything in the home party realm is out! I hate those high-pressure situations, and my dh works too many evenings for that to work well for me. I've considered trying to find someone to babysit a couple of days a week, but I really don't want to give up our freedom at home. My dh and I applied for a position as Activities Director withour HOA, but have never heard a response from them. It's just planning the HOA activities from home. It'd be great if it worked out!
I translate from home, so if you are bilingual, that is an option. If you are into acting or reading out loud, you can register at voices.com for voice-overs etc. I have also heard of people who do transcribing from home.
I have a cople of friends that do transcription, which helps them out immensely! I will be taking care of a 5yo and doing a bit of K work with her next year. It won't bring in a whole lot, but it will be something, and her parents are fine with us dragging her with us when we go places! We'll see how it goes!
Nope! No school needed, just patience and a good ear. I have done it myself. It is HARD work and I prefer translation as it is way easier for me.
oh really I thought you had to know all the medical terms and things and how to spell them all. Maybe I am wrong I dunno. I am a young one on here and learning all these new things.
oh ok I didn't know that, boy I am so young I am learning something everyday. Thanks for helping me out. do they pay good? Are the hours long?
Well, I only did it that one time so I don't know what the regular going rate is. Here are some links: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070613083218AARl4Vv http://www.work-from-home-directory.com/at-home-jobs/transcription-jobs.html I can't verify the facts on these websites but they seem okay. You don't need training classes, you DO need a good computer and good software. The software I used was free, found on sourceforge.net. A reputable place to sign up at is http://www.proz.com. It is primarily for translation but you can register as a transcriber only if you want. I have gotten MANY jobs through that site and it is free to register though they push their pricey update.
yea, but all those I looked at and the one you posted want money to join. I don't pay for job. Know what I mean.
Proz.com don't want money to join. You don't need the pay upgrade. I have been a member there since 2006 without paying and have tons of work.
