So I gave it a try today and it turned out great!!! :D

I don't have a bread machine - I just made it the old fashioned way and I am so shocked it actually turned out!

I used a recipe for white bread that Patty gave me. Thanks Patty! I figured I would try the white bread first and if that went well I would attempt some honey wheat bread and cinnamon rolls.

    I'm so excited!

    You rock!

I always brush the tops of my loaves with butter after they come out of the oven, did you?

No Katie I didn't! Agh! But I certainly know better next time. I figure two loaves should last us the week and I'll make more next weekend. I told the kids if my first loaves turned out they could help next time. I think I'll make white bread a couple more times before branching out to other things. But I do plan to try cinnamon rolls this Saturday.

Two loaves last a week? GET REAL!!! LOL!!! When I bake, one loaf is usually gone before dinner that night, and the second one is usually gone before the next day.

GOOD JOB!!! That wasn't so hard, was it?

Wow, you all must eat like birds, two loaves would last two days in my house.

The butter makes the top of the bread really pretty and tasty!

Wheat berries are good in the bread too. My guys are hardcore wheat fans (not me, too much fiber, if you know what I mean).

Ok, share this recipe!!! I'd love to make my own bread, but remember my mom feeding her starter and ending up with too much, and her trying to give some away, and her making tons of bread and giving it away... I don't have time for all that she did to make bread, but it was delicious!! If I could go an easier route, I would do it. We love wheat bread here, so a wheat or white recipe would be good!!

You can use some of the dough to make bread sticks. I roll it out, cut into strip and bake. After I bake I brush with melted butter and top with Italian Seasoning blend and Parmesan cheese, grated. Wa-la bread sticks like Pizza Hut!

Another tasty treat, divide the dough that is enough for one load into 1/4th, roll out and fill with pepperoni, sausage, cheese or what ever...............ham, brocolli, your choice, seal edges and bake. Scrumptious meal for 4! Again brush with butter after baking and top with parmesan cheese and Italian blend seasoning.

You can also make pizza out of the dough!

    Bread Rolls!

For Christmas I use a pan in the shape of a tree and make bread roll gifts.

Okay well I was totally wrong. Give me a chance I am new at this!;)

An entire loaf is almost gone:eek:. I guess it goes quicker when it is fresh and homemade eh? I was thinking we normall eat two loaves a week of normal bread so this would be the same.

    Wrong!!

I made a roast with carrots, potatoes and onion and we ate the bread with that for dinner. Now I can't wait to have some toast for breakfast! Yum!:D

TOLD YA SO!!! That's the reason I don't bake all my own bread. I'd have to do it just about every day!

Thats great! I wish I had time to make it the old fashion way too, but the best I can do is put it in the bread machine I bought for $15 at flea market hehe

It comes out good but its more satisfaction I bet to do it with your hands and sing the love song while doing it.

I want to buy another bread machine that I can set the timer for in the morning. We used to have an automatic one and a coffee machine on timer. Waking up to fresh smell of coffee and bread yum! I miss that, but it cost money so I just have to use my used one for now I dont trust it to leave it alone.

Homemade bread goes fast around here. I always keep a loaf out and freeze the other two.

Way to go. Sunday is baking day around here. Last week I made bagels, citrus nutmeg puffs( YUMMO), coconut cake and some rice pudding. I am planning bread and cin rolls for this sunday and probably some cookies. We go through this stuff so fast I have to make a lot and a variaty to slow them down a bit.

I bake bread several times a week. I made strawberry bread today (2 loaves) and one loaf is already devoured. I want to make banana bread tomorrow.

Someone gave me a hand mixer with a bread attachment (13 years ago). That thing is awesome!!

Homemade bread is heartier than store bread-- fill the tummy quicker.

We had strawberry bread the other day. I made several loafs when I picked 20 lbs. back in June and put them in the freezer.
