    Holy Cow!
Check out this report from our local tv station!

    http://tinyurl.com/59hmkt

HOUSTON -- How low will they go? That's the question on motorists' lips as they fill up with gas at prices not seen since last Halloween.

A pair of gas stations are engaged in a price war at the intersection of Eldridge and FM 529 in Northwest Harris County.

As of 4:25pm, the Shell was offering regular unleaded for $2.69 a gallon, with the Chevron slightly higher at $2.72.

Long lines of cars snake from both gas stations into the street.

The photo shows prices as low as $2.51 at 4:45pm.

    TIFFANY!
    Go gas up!

Unfortunately, our state laws will not allow such a price war. They cap our gas prices so that stations can't price it less than $.xx lower than the state average. Stupid politicians.

And yes, some stations have been fined recently for pricing too low.

That price war needs to spread south a little bit!! LOL It's still around $3.54+ here.

That's one war I'd welcome to my backyard!!

I would welcome a war like that any day!! Wow, gas for under $3, how nice would that be! As it is, I'm happy to see our prices going down. It's now only $4.13 here. That's down from $4.45 two weeks ago.

OHH I hope this moves north. Town is $4.15 the state average is $3.94. I drive a diesel which is $4.69. I just bought my Jeep liberty in April and it does get much better gas mileage than my car did. Plus I like it a whole lot better. It still costs me about $80-$90 to fill up though. Ouch!!

Why would state politicos make it illegal to have a price war? Isn't that the heart of competition and capitalism?

    What are they socialists?

    *sigh* one would think.

It's actually state law designed to keep things fair for all gas stations. Dumb... just dumb.

Yea, that is the heart of all things socialist: "Make everything fair."

But that is an unattainable goal and meanwhile it stifles life, in general.

The last report I saw it was at 2.34 and dropping. One station said they would stop at .99 per gallon.

Did you see the shot from the news chopper? It looked like a WalMart parking lot and people were waiting for hours - probably using as much gas as the money they were saving!

Down to $2.25 as of the 9pm news...
The lines were rediculas and the sheriffs dept had to show up for crowd control...

I'll pay you $1 extra a gallon to NOT have to put up with all that! hahahaha!

Exactly, Jen! The mess and confusion's too much for me. Now, if ALL the stations would be doing that so the lines would be fairly even.... Plus, I bet they run out of gas fairly quickly.

Dwayne called me when I was on my way to the dance studio last night and told me he saw that on the news. It is fairly close to my area but there is no way I am going to put up with those crowds!

A new gas station just opened up outside my neighborhood and yesterday gas there was $3.35.

Depending on where in our city you go, gas here is anywhere from around $3.35 to $3.85 (and not because of price wars). E85 is at $3.09. I would deffinitely welcome prices below $3, but right now I'm just happy that they're below $4.

We were out today, and noticed a .20 increase in prices at one place. Was curious if "something" happened!
