What a funny thing to happen! I don't even think about it when we are out but now that you mention it, the people in the Dr. office waiting room on Monday looked at us funny...like why are you here NOW and aren't you in a hurry.

It must however cross my subconsciousness because I ordered a shirt for both my kids last week along with my curr. from rocksolidinc. It says "2 Cool 4 School" and I LOVE IT! I am going to check out the sites that have been mentioned! Great thread!:D

I saw one that said "I AM in school... we're on a field trip and looking for manners. Have you seen any?"

There are some cute ones out there. We were asked about the kids being in school today- maybe we needed shirts that say Principal for Dad, Teacher for Mom, and Student, Student, Student for the kids??

    LOL

I have been seeing two boys around the ages of 8 or 9 the past few days out and about during school hours. They were in the market getting themselves cappucinno yesterday and today they are cruising up and down the streets on a four wheeler.
Oh gee, do you think I should question them? LOL

    Good for them!!!!!

Ems and I went to Subway for lunch today. As we were walking in, we past a family walking out. It was a mom, three boys, and a little girl. We gave each other a huge smile because we knew the other was onto a good thing! There was a feeling of kinship.
I am telling you, the longer I homeschool, my Homeschool Radar becomes stronger. I am able spot them more and more! :p

I had someone ask me if I can actually teach Bible as a class today!
I looked at her and said yes. We call it Bible Study?
I explained we are a private school and can teach whatever we want.. she asked " is that considered English or something?" I said no, it's considered Bible class.
She looked lost, but maybe I will h elp enlighten her!

Honestly, you can probably teach Bible as English if you wanted to. It is kind of like us using a Martha Stewart magazine for grammar! Bible can probably count as reading as well.

    I LOVE HOMESCHOOLING!!!!!!!!!!!!! :p

So all of you who are getting the whispers and weird looks have schools in your area that have already started back up? We have a school district here that is starting this Monday (8/25), and a couple of others that are starting later in the week...and I think that's early! At least 8/25 is!

I cannot imagine concerning myself with why children are out and about during a week day. There are so many reasons beside homeschooling. Like a dentist appt., doctors appt., family emergency, etc. Also, august is an odd month to be even wondering why children are out and about. Many schools don't even start until September. People are so stinkin' nosey!

I love the t shirts. I am thinking about getting one for my dad, he is the biggest encourager that I have. I think he would get a kick out of them.

My boy is only 4 and I have gotten several people who have asked why he isn't in school. I have taught him to say that we are in school, and that we are on a field trip to study society. I usually get some great looks out of it. I don't want him to feel stupid because he doesn't know what "grade" he is in, or why he would have to "go" to school.
