I mentioned in another thread that I got sick of having no committed space to homeschool because my husband is under the delusion that we'll eat at the kitchen table at some point.

We won't. The table is to small and inevitably cluttered and the space too crowded. It'll happen when we move to a bigger house but for now, we eat together in the living room.

So I took over half the kitchen. The table is mine. The homeschool stuff is now all in a central place.

Here's the table. Yes the chair are mismatched and one is stained with paint but they don't wobble too much so I'm good. The organizer on the table holds all our current curriculum while the shelf holds stuff for down the road or extra practice as well as resources like dictionaries.

This is my space. It's blurry but you get the idea. The kids have their own computer but use mine for the internet and programs their computer can't handle. The cat is sitting on my drawing box (explanation here at my drawing blog - if you browse it be advised that I love drawing nudes! But I'm darn good so it's okay) which I haven't used in ages but have to soon. The cat is essential. He grades the work and metes out punishment for disruptive behaviour.

Here is the picture I shouldn't show but feel like I need to. It's my messy craft corner. The storage device is an old, rickety microwave cart I rescued on garbage day. A lot of my furniture has a similar story. Neo Garbage...It's the theme I'm going for. You do get to see my awesome backdoor which lets in a lot of light. Don't go out there though. No deck. You fall.

That concludes the tour of our classroom.

I should note that the stuff on the whiteboard is mainly for show. It's tommorrow's line up but there's no way we'll get it all done. I just wanted to try out the new position and practice my handwriting (I'm working on it a bit since Catherine's Peterson Directed came in :D)

Your space looks so cool! Mine is about like that (except now full of hs boxes, lol) but no where near as organized as yours is!

It does look pretty organized. Keep in mind though that you can't see in the filing cabinet or under the old desk beside my computer desk. :D

    ok, it has inspired me!
I have now put my time line up, my new smaller World Map, ( the larger one we had up last year looks exactly like it but was too big for me to keep putting up on the wall.. and for the record the grey sticky stuff ripped my wall! Don't use it!
What is the stuff someone said will hold things wiht out making holes?
I put my bulletin board up with push pins right now, or tacks? the ones that stick out and are in colors?
Anyway how do you hold things on your wall?

I am also going to use my big whiteboard for a presidential question of the day and a scripture of the day!
I will make them copy it into thier Jounal note books and tell me about it if they have nothing else to write about! ( two birds?)
Istarted a couple of things on my little bulletin board too ( its a small one but has worked so far)
    remember YOU INSPIRED THIS!
Chemistry Mistery--- I will put up some things discribing an element etc, and the winner who guesses or researches to find what it is will get a prize... have to figure out what that is and get it first this time!

Thanks...I think. :D And I'm stealing some of your ideas!

I have to say thank you for the reaction everyone because I posted the pics in a thread on the WTM and got almost no reaction. I'm seriously wondering if it's because I have mismatched and stained chairs and I admitted some of my stuff was picked from the garbage (I've since got a good reaction from a low income hsing family thread I started though. :D). A lot of the school rooms on that board are spectacular and um...pricey!

I like that forum but this one is my homeschooling home.

You can get 3m Command hooks that mount on your wall but come off easily when you need them too. I think the 3M Command Mounting and/or Poster Strips are the ones that are just the adhesive with no hooks.

Tacks, tape...The white board is held up by a couple of drywall screws that it rests on on the bottom and a couple tight ones at the top. I use pretty much anything that's guarenteed to damage the walls. :D If I waited until I had the proper hanging stuff it would NEVER get up.

dh is testy about holes, I was always brought up to think we could not mark the walls cause we were renting, now that we own it we should be able to smack a big huge hole in it and say, Oh well we can fix it!

My walls have a lot of holes!
We hang up so many different things throughout the year. Once upon a time I tried to take care of the walls but I no longer care.:D

I agree, I totally love this forum! I love how active everyone is and so helpful and caring! It's been wonderful!
Girl! Do not worry about the mix-match furniture or the garbage finds! Those are the best anyway! ;)
My chairs are falling apart, lol. We didn't realize when we bought our table set 6 years ago that it was crap but since they have all fallen apart in various different way...one's leg fell off (it's just for 'show' now on the backside of the table...and holds stuff in the chair for extra storage.), two back tops are falling off and ones seat is off and just sits there (be careful when you sit down). :) I also have a mix-matched white metal desk chair at the table. I hope to get a new chair set when we move...the table is still good.
My desk is a white one (currently in use for other things...but will find it's place in the hs room when we move ~~or the dining room converted to hs room~~) that I found at the goodwill for $15 dollars, still in good shape.
And I'm currently on the lookout for things at the trash boxes that would make good shelf storage for when we move.
People don't understand that we have a system here...when people get rid of stuff, they sit it in front of the trash boxes so that others can come by and pick it up if they want it. It's kind of like a swap place. Why would you throw stuff that's still usable into the actual trash? :D

I hung my white board up with the tape thingies it came with and it only lasted a few months, it's now sitting in the floor behind my table. I thought me were moving BUT since it's taking a while, I might try to re-mount it because everytime I need to 'write on the board' I have to pull out a sheet of paper and lean between the kids and hope they can see me.
I wonder how I can mount it without the tape parts....hmmmm...might be a project for today!

Ha! Mine was a Christmas present from my parents. They just picked up a cheap one from Walmart because they knew we had nothing. Only one chair is left because the others fell apart. My mom frets a little about how cheap it was but it was just what we needed at the time and the table has lasted until now when we have the money to replace it!

And I know exactly what you mean about putting stuff out at the trash for others. I've done that quite a few times!

You ladies are making me laugh! Our decor is VERY mix-match and my main couch was bought when I was prego with my ds who just turned 21!

I don't have much storage space and found that the freeze pop boxes I'd been saving for who knows what reason can hold quite a few books and manuals!

Love it! I use part of the living room. My kitchen is a kitchen/dinning room so there is not enough room.

Glad you have you space now!

You picked yellow too!! What color?? mine is cornsilk. Love the happy feeling we get when we drag our sleepy butts in here each day I painted this entire room over the weekend two weeks ago. I never felt so old, hot, aggrivated, but after I sat down and looked at it, I felt so proud and thrilled we finally had a space just for school.
