My DH's last day at work is tommorow... All the children know this by the number of times I have told them that we cannot go to chick fila.... lately, I have been overpaying the utilities, to bank the money, meaning that I am sure those bills are covered for the next couple of months, instead of being in the bank and it getting spent... long story.... So, needless to say, many utility account (Power, gas water) have "Credit Balances" on them.. Anyway... Yesterday. the water bill came in and my son wanted to open it. No prob. Have fun reading it! I totally was not thinking about the bills, because I was driving. Tina (My new teenager) and I were chatting about gas prices while I drove her to work. The three critters were in the back seat pouring over the water bill. Then came this statement... "Mom, since you nad dad have it so hard, I can pay the water bill for you. Will that help? Then you can use more to make more carrots and tomatoes." I was floored of course. So I replied (Forgetting about the bills paid), "Sweety, thank you but that is a lot of money!" He replied, very confidently as he stufed the bill back into it;s envelope, "I know, but it is only $6.34 and I have about $10 saved up, so no problem." And just as no chalauntly laid back in his seat to look out the window... WOW! He would have paid! YEA YEA YEA YEA YEA YEA YEA YEA YEA YEA I am doing SOMETHING RIGHT!
It might be neat to let him pay it. What an awesome feeling it would be for him to be able to handle something like that! You got a great kids there.
I agree! Let him bless you! And, you're totally correct, there - you ARE doing something right!! ***hugs***
Thanks, guys! It was just too awesome! I think I will let the big man help his momma... Too cool, eh? I remember the first time I paid for something for my mom. It was a "Grown up" moment.
Jen, that is so special my girls love doing it too when they can, it makes them feel so special. Jen, has dh found work yet?
Sure sounds like you did something right to me! Thanks for sharing that with us, very sweet. Hope & Pray your husband finds another job quickly.
What a great son you have there Jen, that's so awesome that he would offer to pay that for you. Keep up the good work!
Jen, maybe we need to arrange a narriage for your little one and my Phillip. I mean, Deena and I have already pre-arranged for Rachael and her Benjamin! I think you'd be as great a MIL and G'ma as Deena and I will be! Imagine all the family gatherings with all the extended family (you guys!) LOL!!!!!
Crap-ola! That rocks! JeniBear, (Who is at Disney World this week) (See me: Jealous!) She has already betrothed our youngest together! hahahaha!
That's so neat! Tell him we're proud of him for helping support his family! What a MAN he's becoming!!! He's a bit young to be betrothed to my dd, so I guess we can't go that route. But I can be proud of him anyway, and give you a ((((HUG!)))) and a pat on the back!
Yea, well we STILL haven't seen proof (Read: PHOTOS) that you actually went to Disney World!!!! BIG HONKIN HINT!
well, my mom has the pictures....since she has the digital camera that I sacrificed the two batteries I did have so that she could take more pictures than I could. lol
My son just offered to help pay my husband's speeding ticket. He's 13 and I've recently had to tell him no on several things he wanted because it's out of our budget. I did not let him pitch in his birthday money to pay for the speeding ticket though. I explained to him that it was Daddy's mistake and Daddy will have to pay for it himself, but that it was very sweet and generous and mature of him to offer. If it had been a necessary bill to survive, I would have allowed him to pitch in, but I didn't think it would be fair, or right, for him to pitch in on a speeding ticket. Kids really are quite amazing.
That is so cool, eh? It changes the way we see our kids, when they offer to help. I made sure that I told my son that. That he seemed so grown up to offer to help.
