How does a homeschooling family get a SCHOLASTIC BOOK's school username and password? We don't have an official homeschool name yet because I"m just doing preschool work with my ds3. How do they verify your school name anyway if you're a homeschooling family. Does each state keep a registered list or something that they check?

We are interested in ordering books through Scholastic. Does anyone else have an account? And if so, is it a smooth process and are you happy? Can someone help me out? THANK YOU!!! :)

Just create a school name and sign up. Its what I did. You can mark that you are a homeschooler I think.

Oh, I don't order books through them, although their prices are good, I can get better prices at the thrift store and yardsales. Also, I didn't like that they wasted tons of paper sending me a big thick book of order forms every month when I told them I only needed 2 or 3 of each.

    Nicole,
I did the same, I just used our unofficial school name that I play around with <last name> academy. :)
I don't order from scholastic but I do go to their warehouse sales! A couple of times a year they usually have warehouse sales and mark their books down 35% or more. I racked up on books that would typically be over $100 for $50 (and got 10 off that....so totaled $40).

Thanks ladies. I appreciate your input. A warehouse sale?? Oh my, I would go crazy at one of those. It is probably good I don't live anywhere close to something like that. LOL

You should check on it, I didn't think we'd have one in our area either, but we did, BUT I can only go once a year! Or else I would go bust and I try to give myself a limit (and dh for backup! rofl):!::!::!:

Just a warning, you get a whole catalog with like 30 fliers it's a lot of waste for just one family, plus you have to order a certain amount or you have to pay for shipping (if you order online that is) I do order for a co-op and it makes it worth it, but I did notice their book prices went up this year. Overall, if I didn't order for our co-op, I wouldn't do it. I find that I can order scholastic books through B&N and use the 20% discount and pay about the same.

    Good luck.

I only order when they have their dollar sale. I want to say they have one in the fall like near Nov. then another one in spring. That is like trying to get something from walmart on the friday after thanksgiving!! But it is fun

I did the same thing, jsut set up an account using our "homeschooling" name.
