That is excellent! You should start a Frugal Homeschooler Recipe Thread.

Good idea, Katie! Does anyone like fried rice? That's a GREAT left-overs dish!

I think it stinks that they don't give away their ripe bananas.

On an average we spend about $250 a month for a family of 4. That includes household supplies and pet foods. I try to only get store brand items since they are usually cheaper (I mostly shop at King Soopers). I make everything from scratch, usually doubling the recipes so that I can freeze half for a second meal on another night. I make lots of casseroles and soups since they go alot farther. Dinner out isn't part of my food budget, but then again we only get dinner out once a month.
We also stock up on foods when we find a great sale on them.

No recipe really. You put a little butter or oil in a skillet, add your left-over rice, and then chop up whatever veggies you have on hand (carrots, celery, brocolli, squash...whatever!) and if you have some left-over chicken or something lying around, throw that in, too. Fry it for a while and then scramble in an egg. When the egg is done, you eat. (I learned to make it from a Chinese grad student at Ohio State!)

Do you season the rice in any way?

No. I will usually put out soy sauce if anyone wants it.
