LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your school room! I really need to get in mine and spruce it up... make it more homey feeling, or something... because it sure would be easier to do everything in our designated room, instead of having to drag stuff out and back in every day. Hmmm, maybe I need to print your picture and hang it on my fridge for a few days.
hehe  I think the best thing I did for my school room is to use a table and not desks. My friends have always used a table and it just makes it so much more homey. We really lucked out with the desk that sits in the corner. We got it free from a friend whose office closed and she was responsible for getting rid of all of the furniture. The fooseball table was also free. (dh is a painter and it was left behind in a college apartment last August. Our area is not always clean, but I really prefer things to be put away. That picture was taken the day before we started school. I spent one evening organizing. I've since added another bookshelf that was on freecycle. We're all about free here. Kristine
It is lovely, Kristine! Does the foosball table work as an incentive...finish your work, and you can play...?
How awesom!e, I have two desks in the room I am in and wish I had (Office) used this room for school but we end u p using it for stuffing stuff in more often than not, I clean it up about every month or so but stuff keeps coming back! A!
My kids love it that we DON'T have a homeschool room. My husband was going to turn our porch into a school room and my kids promptly said "no." They love homeschooling where they choose. Especially in the backyard.
ya, ds likes that he can do school on the couch, he thinks that and the floor are the best places to work hehe.
We just work at the kitchen table (and of course couch for reading times) for now. Even if/when we get a hs room, I think I'll keep a table in it. We do have two desks...right now they're in the kids' room and get played with cuz I have no space elsewhere. I would put them in the hs room when we move, BUT I think I'll only use it for handwriting so they would be at good levels to write.
We had actual school desks for a few years, it was fun having a desk for each child. llittlest ds had a tiny sized one, dd a middle sized one, those both opened and had the hatch inside. the older one had the older style with just a rack on the bottom to hold your books that the school he goes to now uses in thier primary grades.
we gave ours to our friends wiht kids much litteler than ours so they can use them , worked out nice! Now that they are out grown for my kids, that is.
We use the kitchen table to work at. For all of our supplies I took over the very large hall closet and use that to store all of our school stuff. In the dining room I have our white board hanging on the wall with a small bookcase under it to hold the books we're currently working on. When the weather is nice we'll pack up our stuff and go sit a park to work. On other days when the walls are closing in on us we'll work at the library or go to a restaraunt. We'll eat lunch there, then sit and work on a couple of classes. The waitress's think it's great we we come in.
One of our desks went to another homeschooled little boy. The others went to my sister's girls, who homeschool too.
whenwe got ours it was from a family up the street whos kids grew out of them, they home schooled too!
