Hello, I am new here and I am Homeschooling my daughter. She is in the first grade. I am looking for a cheap bulletin board so I would be able to build a word wall. I really don't want to turn my hallway into a word wall. I would like either a bulletin board or any ideas from you. Please Help. Thanks - Crystal

I had a closet door next to the dining room table. I would open it up and have my word wall there for when I started.

I got some bulletin board squares at Wal-Mart (not a huge bulletin board) but about 12-18 inches square.

They also have thin cork squares that were even cheaper.

I have a dry erase board that I got at Sam's for about $15. The back side is one of those boards with the elastic strips that can hold papers. We have it on an easel and can switch it from dry erase to the other side whenever we need too.

Or, you could get a big roll of butcher paper (or news print) and roll it out for the length that you need/want. Somtimes newspapers sell the end of the roll cheap...might even donate it since it's for an educational purpose.

You could also buy one of those cardboard cutting boards at JoAnn's. Then you can put it away when it isn't in use.

A really cheap bulletin board, freezer paper and make a border. That is how we did our first one.

what is freezer paper? You can also do like I did before, use a cardboard box, and cover it with construction paper or printer paper!

or the backside of old wrapping paper would work to cover it too.

btw...freezer paper is kind of like butcher paper in small scale form. It's about the size of a thing of foil or seran wrap. It has a waxy side and a plain side.

I've just printed out lists for Eli's "mini office". (Search here for threads about how to make these.) That way I fold it up at the end of the day, and he still gets exposed to the words daily.

    Welcome to the board!

I just used construction paper and taped the words I printed off the computer to it. My ds loved it because he could hang it on his wall in his room at the end of the year.

THis is a simple solution and it would also be small enough you could put it in a binder or folder if you want or in your school years scrap book!

We use those science project boards that fold up. They stand up on their own and store easily. You can get them at the dollar store alot of times.

Add some velcro strips to it or cheap stick on magnets or just use push pins

Also those ceiling tiles ( used for dropped ceilings) are very inexpensive at Lowes/Home Depot. You can use tacks in it just like corkboard.
Then you can store then in the closet or hang them up somewhere.
