This is our first year homeschooling, and so far so good. I have 3 boys ages 10, 8, and 5. My oldest son is still in school and I've been homeschooling my middle child for 7 weeks now. And I pulled my kindergartner out of school this past Friday. Homeschooling 1 was pretty easy, now I can already see I'm going to have to do some pretty good time management since they have different curriculum.

    Any advice.

    Should be quite an adventure!:D

Hi! I'm new to homeschooling as well. I also have three...boys 10, 9 and 5. I also have the oldest still in ps! So similar! I've had some panic getting started. Starting to feel more relaxed. This blog is such a treasure! You'll find a ton of support here...

    Welcome!

Yes. You will have to be a pretty good time manager. I would suggest doing as much as you can together...reading aloud, science, history ect.

If you still want to "do" everyone seperately, take the time to teach the older ones (especially) to work independently. My 9 and 11 year old children do almost all their work themselves - and check alot of it using the teachers book too. I'm there for questions, scheduling, and accountability.

This takes time though especially if they are coming out of school (like mine did) where everything is spoon fed to them. Don't jump in with help at the first sign "distress", make them think, lead them to the answer with other questions that break down the thought process into smaller steps, don't just tell them the answer. Be patient and know that in the long run it is so worth it for them to learn to learn on their own.

    Best wishes!

A lot of homeschooling is just adjusting your time. It will get easier as you get use to the routine.
