I have not tried this yet but have heard good things about it. We were put on a list where they are giving us a free box while my husband is deployed. They are giving 100's away to all the military families in our town. A True Blessing!!!!

We have used Angel Food before. The food is ok. The meats are not the best cuts but they will get you through. The produce has been good. The boxed/frozen stuff is good. Some of it is off name brands and others are name brands. We check to see if the food is something we know we will eat and if so we order that month, although we forgot to go this month..bummer.

I personally have not used it but have checked out their website to see what type of things were offered. I do know a couple of people who do use and think it is wonderful. The only reason I chose not to was because there is alot of 'processed' foods included and I do not tend to use these because of the sodium/fat/sugar content.
However, I recently realized how much I was spending at the grocery store and just about fell over! So I am back to clipping and printing coupons, only buying what is on my list, cutting back on the treats, buying meats only on sale and most importantly, pre-planning my menu for the week. I check out the different store fliers also to see who has the best prices on what I need that week--luckily I have a several different stores close enough that this works for me without wasting alot of gas. I am also trying to do one big trip for a two week period and budgeting a smaller trip in on the off week for milk and fresh fruit. But it really is frustrating when you are leaving the store with 1/2 a cart full and yet you paid the same as you did a year ago and you'd leave with your cart overflowing.

On a side note, with the holidays coming up, I am trying to set $5 aside from each trip to buy groceries for a needy family or gifts off the Angel Tree....With the hurricanes and the economy the way it is there are going to be so many more people who need help and many people who used to help that aren't going to be able to. For all of you reading this please consider this so as many people who can be helped are. And if you really can't set aside any money but can knit, crochet or sew; the need for warm gloves and hats are important too--a little extra yarn laying around could mean the world to a little one somewere.

Oh I forgot, my dh and I just saw in our local paper that we can buy meat directly from the farmer or processor for between $2 & $3 a pound (price doesn't change with the cut). Some places you may have to buy the whole cow/pig whatever others will let you buy a portion. We are going to talk to a couple friends of ours and see if they want to go in on an entire purchase of beef. If we did it ourselves it would be about $1,200. Not quite in our budget but if we divide it in four......Might be something you could look into in your areas. Seriously, filet mignon or any steak for that matter at $2/3 a pound?! Even ground beef at that price is good.

Great tip, I actually wash almost all of my clothes in cold water and they seem to come out just fine with the exception of my dishcloths.

My ds raised two pigs this year for butcher. One my parents and inlaws are splitting and the other is ours. They are about 400 pounds - huge! I couldn't believe how expensive feed was this year for them but I knew that would only drive up the market price so I'm glad that we have them. We hope to butcher next weekend. To save more $ we do it ourselves. My fil has a big roaster and my dh will be roasting. We did that a couple years ago and it was great having a pig roast all winter long.
