I am looking for some good supplements for a high school world history course. I am interested in non-fiction books that would make good reading materials-trying to get up a good reading list for this course. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Okay someone here , I think its Jackie or Kris has a list of books you can read. They gave it to me before but I think I lost it or deleted it or something.... Julius Cesar is on it , that is the title ....
Go to www.sonlight.com and check out the history/readers/readalouds that they recommend for their Core 6, Core 7 and Core Alt 7 World History and their Core 200 (or 300)...can't remember which is high school world history. There readers are a great source whether you buy them or just get them from your local library. Rhonda
Thanks. They have a lot of resources. I also found Tapestry of Grace. They have a lot of resources for the high school level. Has anyone here ever heard of it/used it? It looks pretty good.
Not me, I looked it up though and wondered how hardit would be do doall that it has on one page.. I looked at lesson overview link on it, WOW!
We (my husband) are huge history channel fans. That is all we watch except for two other shows and the news. So I am hoping to get some DVD sets from there educational series. I just noticed that the States and the President sets were on sale.
Try this site for some good essays, political cartoons and such. I used them alot last year http://www.schoolhistory.co.uk/
Biographies. If your library uses the dewey decimal system they will be in the 920.s though some libraries here also have a B section between the 800s& the 920s with other bios. Nothing beats hearing history straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak.
My list is posted here: http://www.homeschoolspot.com/showthread.php?t=5108&highlight=ancient+history but I'm not sure it will have much for you. It's a list I got from a MOH list I belonged to. Much of it I would consider late elementary to middle school, though some of it is high school. And a lot of it is fiction.
Hey there, This is a website that was a companion to my college world history class. It doesn't have the readings to it but would give you a good place for your child to take practice quizes, read flashcards and glossary and get summaries from different time periods. Hope it helps some!
I have used part of a free sample module - very good, in depth stuff. I also took their idea and structured my own unit the way they do. Didn't buy it b/c many of the books aren't as easily accessible here. looks good though.
