I don't really incorporate Halloween into my lessons, and I don't decorate except for a jack-o-lantern. (We read The Pumkin Patch Parable as we carve.) But. we do go trick-or-treating. In fact, I got my two little girls candy corn costumes at the Salvation Army today for $4.99 each. They are so cute!!

www.dltk-kids.com and www.first-school.ws both have some halloween stuff though I'll admit that I don't know exactly what because I haven't looked at it.

Well actually the movies are scary enough for them but not near enough for me. I wish my oldest would get into more scary movies with me. I am going to see if she will watch Halloween this year. I doubt it though. Last year we watched Watcher in the Woods, Gremlins and Ghost Busters which isnt scary but I wanted her to see it.

I want stuff like Halloween, Freddy, Jason and Scream!

    Tiffany,
I know what you mean, those are the ones I want too. I love curling up on Halloween night and getting into some good "classic" scary movies. :) (anytime really, but Halloween especially).

We've done gremlins and ghost busters too. I think that's about as scary as it's getting here. At least for a few years. My ds is a big chicken, though my dd might be more into it.

If we watch a "scary" movie, it's more tame. Like "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken" or "Hold That Ghost!" There's also a good one with Chevy Chase and Gilda Radner, "Haunted Honeymoon".

I would NEVER show Jason or Michael or Freddy to my kids! Faythe wouldn't be able to sleep for a month!

With ds only being 4, I have to make sure I don't let him watch anything too scary. So, we generally do the more kid-oriented movies while he's up (Harry Potter, Halloweentown, etc.).
They've both seen Gremlins & loved it. They've also seen The Lost Boys, though there were a few parts of that one that I covered ds's eyes for.
DD is finally more into the stuff I enjoy. Last year, she watched Cujo. This year, I'm thinking Critters, Nightmare on Elm St, Rose Red, and a few others.
Dh isn't as into horror movies as I am, but he's a good sport about all the horror movies we watch in Oct.

Jackie I love Haunted Honeymoon! Funny movie. I would not show Freddy or Jason to Grace obviously! She is only 5! No way! But Samantha is going on 13 and I would let her see that with dh and I if she could handle scary things. But she can't. At her age I was watching majorly scary movies.

Watcher in the Woods is a good one and we may get it again this year. Has anyone else seen that? It is an older movie, nothing bloody or anything like that, just creepy.

Oh Brandi I forgot about Rose Red! Great movie! I also think Sam would watch Cujo. What about Carrie and The Shinning??

We have haunted houses in south louisiana. I don't know if this is something that's found everywhere. But it sounds like a lot of you ladies would love it. And I'm not talking disney world kinda haunted house. We're talking gory, bloody, grab you and chase you with a chain saw kind of stuff. I can't handle em.. I'm a chicken when it comes to that.

Watcher in the Woods.... Was that a movie that Disney did, based on a book by Phyllis Whitney? Or maybe Mary Stewart?

Yes! That is the one. I'm not sure who wrote the book but yes it is Disney. Samantha found that hard to believe after watching the movie that it was actually Disney!

If you are going to watch "The Shinning" make sure it is the original!!! Jack Nicholson's role in that is classic!

I saw Watcher in the Woods when I was a kid. I'd completely forgotten about it. I think I'll have to look around & see if I can find it.
We have Carrie & The Shining & Joslyn should be able to handle them. I'm a big Stephen King fan & have a ton of his movies & books. I just have to figure out which ones she can handle & which ones have content that I don't think is appropriate for her. She's been bugging me about reading on of my Stephen king books. It's much harder to choose one of those for her. I think I'll have to look at my horror movie collection tonight & see what I think she can handle.
Ooh, I just remembered, we've got Silver Bullet. I bet she'd like that one.

I haven't seen the newer one yet. However, I was told that the newer one actually sticks to the book more than the Jack Nicholson one. I want to watch it, just to see how bad it really is (I haven't heard a lot of good reviews of it). I LOVE the orignal one though. DH hates that movie & won't watch it, so it's one of the ones I sit & watch in the middle of the night while everyone else is in bed.

I have seen both versions of The Shinning and been to the hotel in the newer version. It is the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado and is gorgeous!

I prefer the original version of the movie better just because I love Jack! But the acting of his wife is terrible! Her horribe facial expressions are hillarious!

I have a huge collection of Alfred Hitchcock dh gave me for my birthday a couple of years back along with about 5 Stephen King movies.
