How much milk and cereal do you go through?

We used to go through a lot but I am thinking of pulling the plug completely.

Besides oatmeal, what other things can you have that is inexpensive. I know eggs are there too... anything else?

We eat a lot of different hot cereals more than anything. We do buy cereal but it usually eaten as a snack or Ems likes a bowl before bed.
We do go through milk because I use it to make breakfast shakes.

We use a gallon of milk per week for our family of 4. For breakfast we have cereal, oatmeal, cream of wheat, grits, fried polenta, eggs and toast, fruit and yogurt, pancakes, waffles, sausage or bacon biscuits, and omlettes made with leftovers.

We go through about 4 gallons per week.
For breakfast we have cinnamon toast, eggs, oatmeal, cream of wheat, bagels, fresh fruit, pancakes, waffles, french toast, and occasionally cold cereal. I only buy cereal when it's on sale, because the regular price is just ridiculous!

    over eating

my 2 would drink way too much milk if i let them. so we go through about 2 gallons a week. depends on if i use it to cook with,ie potatoe soup or something. i think toast and jelly and a glass of oj or milk and maybe sliced fruit should be plenty for breakfast.

i was just reading a book and it was talking about how lunch used to be the big meal of the day and supper was leftovers. that just sound so weird, but i guess back then everyone farmed and came in for lunch so it makes sense.

We eat oatmeal, fruit, toast and french toast. The cold cereal is too expensive and too sugary for my children. We have a bakery in town and buy day old bread.

We go through 1 gallon a week for 4 people (my dd does not drink milk, but will eat it with oatmeal). Our milk cost $2.99 at the local Rite Aid.

We generally go through a gallon of milk a day. I can usually get milk at Aldi for $2.99 a gallon & last week got it for $2.58 too bad it wasn't that cheap every week though. I make my own chocolate/strawberry syrups for it as well.

I make my own muffin mixes & do muffins a lot of times for breakfast. My kids all love oatmeal, grits, cream of wheat & pancakes too.

When my 2 were little and drank lots of milk I would dilute it.
I bought 1 gallon of whole milk ( or 2%) and then I made a batch of instant milk ( powdered milk) and mixed the 2 ( 1/2 whole milk , 1/2 powdered milk) to make 2 gallons.
Our milk is @ $2.00 a gallon right now at Sam's Club. We go through 1 gallon a week , unless its summertime, then its 2 because we love to make smoothies!

Also for breakfast we have whatever we can find. Sometimes we might have hard boiled eggs, leftover tuna for a sandwich, fresh fruit tray, veggies and dip or whatever catches our eye.
We tend to eat several small meals ( including dinner) instead of 3 big ones and some snacks.

We've been making our own milk for years. Each week my husband makes 3 gallons of soy milk. I bake bread twice per week. My husband makes PJs for the kids; I sew curtains, etc. Save a pretty penny there. We buy our cereal at the Wholesale store. 24 boxes, last 1 month... in between we have waffles, some days pancakes, french toast, etc... like what Ohio Mom suggested. And of course, oatmeal, corn or cream of wheat porridge!

We go through about 6 gallons of milk a week for the four of us. We eat eggs, oatmeal, french toast, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, waffles, zucchinni bread, bannana bread and cereal for breakfast.

We use 2 gallongs of milk a week. For the most part the kids eat the ceral plain, they don't like soggy cereal. we get cereal when its on sale, I try not to let them open too many boxes at one time so they get used up. maybe 3 boxes of cereal. we also buy a box or 2 of pop tarts and aunt jamima pancake mix. so we have variety.

By the way i think the pancake mix is rather inexpensive if you buy it on sale. a box on sale cost $2 (2 boxes for $4 on sale).... one box is 2 meals for us and you just add water---- no added cost for ingredients....... unless we use fruit as a topping, and a little syrup goes a long way.

    Our Breakfast

Interesting that you wrote this post I was just going over our Breakfast index card here is what we usually eat -mix/match

Oh and we do 1 gal per week ours is $6.50 a gal but its whole raw milk fresh from a certified inspected weekly dairy. If we are running low we dilute it with water or add milk powder milk to it since it is whole.

Eggs/Honey/Pecans usually try to use this a lot since its coming from our farm.

Pancakes/Waffles/French Toast (Make waffles at least once a week because I can put them in fridge and easy to reheat)

Cream of wheat/Oatmeal trying new recipes now for oats-We hardly eat cereal from the store its too sugary and way to $$ if I buy something its like bulk raisen brand or cheerios

Meats but usually on on weekends when hubby is home
    Bacon/Turkey sausage/Spam/Ham Slice if cheap

Eggs- Scambled/Boiled/Over easy/Omelets (especially omelets when we have left over stuff to put in it)

Hash Browns (try to stay away from these but family loves it)

    Muffins/Biscuits

    LOTS OF FRUIT/Every day FRUIT

    Sam

One of our winter time favorites is sausage gravy and biscuits! It's very cheap to make since we use reconstituted milk for it, and it only takes about 1/2 lb of sausage meat, and a bit of butter and flour served over homemade biscuits. Yummy!

We make pancakes from scratch & what ever is left over...viola breakfast for the next day. I love to double the batches just to have the extras. We do put a few choc chips or blueberries in them for variety.

We also eat oatmeal, cereal, fruit, pancakes, scrambled eggs, once in a great while a pop tart. We go through about a gallon (sometimes less sometimes more a week) DH doesn't drink it though he uses soy milk for breakfast. We paid $5 for 2 gallons last week the week before it was $2.77 gal.
