Hi, does anyone know what McCain and Obama's views on homeschooling are? I haven't heard it discussed anywhere and was wondering if any of you had heard.

    all i know?

well, i know that mccain does support hsing. he even supports a hser getting a voucher to help finance their schools materials. now i dont know if their will be any additional mandates, like what that money could be spent on but personally as long as it can be spent on educational materials, im all for it.

obama hasnt really stated his position that im aware of. i read somewhere that a hser had written his campaign 2x in effort to see if he supported their right to hs and both responses sidestepped the question, so who knows. but the way he wants govt to be involved in healthcare makes me think it would be the same for education. he would mandate what we taught to our children so they would recieve every "great " education that the psers do LOL.

just what i know, not much but still makes me happy to know that mccain believes we have a right to hs.

Wow, a voucher would be kinda cool. I'm already voting for McCain, but his support of HS is another plus for me.

I agree with the last comment. McCain has definately shown support for HS. Obama just wants the government to run everything so I am sure he will not be giving us any help. He is basically a Socialist in my opinion. Go McCain!!

That's good to know. McCain is from Arizona, where we used to live, and they have the best homeschooling laws ever! All you have to do is tell them you'll be homeschooling and that's it. No other requirements.

I havent heard anything myself on the Homeschool issue but I heard
which looking at his health care and education stuff he has laid out so far I wouldnt put it pass him to have the government try to take over Homeschooling too.

I sure hope McCain doesn't hand out vouchers. As much as they can be used, once the government starts funding my private school, they also might try to take extra liberties and tell me how to run it. The government is going to want to know where "their" money is going to, especially when it comes to education. I personally think vouchers would be trouble in the long run.

I think Obama has said that he is for a parent choosing but this doesn't mean he would restrict what a parent can choose from. McCain seems more open to a parent homeschooling as they see fit.

    Obama HS

He very well could have been HS, but do you really think he cares about us HS'ers? I don't.

nope thats why I think it is funny, when I read that I was totally amazed, though the kind of thing it said he was taught said a lot about what he became, the home taught time was not the best for him personally so they moved him to his grand parents, he was also in a catholic school, at some point, not that I am saying any of this for a pro or con, I am not voting for him. Just interesting facts

I have to say this. You Americans don't know what socialism is. In every other western democracy in the world Obama would be at most, middle of the road with a slight lean to the left. If he seems socialist it's because the US is so far to the right in contrast to everyone else. :D

I don't think any of them do. On their list of priorities, homeschooling is probably pretty low. Once in awhile one might throw us a bone to appeal to some demographic like evangelical Christians or something but I don't think we're at all important to any of them. I don't blame them either. they've got much bigger fish to fry.

Huckabee was the only one I really think gave a darn. I never thought much of his campaign or most of his views but I will say that for him.

Unlike other early childhood education plans, the Obama-Biden plan places key emphasis at early care and education for infants, which is essential for children to be ready to enter kindergarten.

    What the...????

Now, they have to get into teaching our kids to babble???? It just doesn't end, does it?

    And Dawninns...
