I find myself being schooled by these times.
Because I "THOUGHT" i was higher thinking then most people in the general public, because I think outside thebox, because I homeschool and question everything...

    However...
Even I have been guilty of thinking I know it all.
(GASP! I know, it is a shock, eh? haha)

But it is true, I am realizing more and more that we need not worry about trying to recreate the prairie days of America.. but to DEFINE the future of America, while not giving up our values...

There's a lot of wisdom in that statement. We don't have to sacrifice in order to redefine.

I have a friend who has lost 2 jobs in the last year. I asked my dh if he thought his job was secure since he works for a non-profit social organization. He said he thought so, but there are people whose positions could be eliminated if things got tough. His organization is run on solely on donations, so if money gets tight, the donations are less.

We have slowly come to the realization that when it comes down to it, most of us are "Free Agents" or Free lance artists. if you will...

I would prefer livin of the land on the prairie of say, 1800... but i ain't gonna get it...
Oh well, adapt or die, eh?

I'm with you there! Dh lost his job a month ago. Since then, I've started tutoring again--10 hours a week. And he's gone "free-lance," consulting with businesses in the same field he was in previously.

It's the only way to go.

Just got our local paper today our local small bank was robbed Tuesday morning, I heard in the news the night before that another small town bank was robbed this week too. Its either the same person or people really getting desperate.

Y'all talking about free lancing seems the way to go.

We just sold 26 of our turkeys for thanksgiving. I didnt have no trouble selling them. People are still willing to pay top dollar for pasture raised turkeys for that I am thankful I had a few ladys gasp of the price of $3.50 a pound while at the super market you can get one for $1.99 a pound or cheaper but ours have no injection/fat raised very healthy. We made a good profit that we are going to use for our trip to Wash state and pay our canal tax.
