Its is nice! Ministry of Ed- don't recognize HS here( unless you are Emirati), and nobody in Oz cares- as we aren't living there. Of course it will be different when we return, as I believe in Vic now, you have to notify them of your intentions to HS ( thats it though)
I second the idea of the MP3 player. We have downloaded lots of audio books onto ours and listen in the car wherever we go. We also go year round. We follow the PS schedule for most subjects, but continue to get together with our co-ops to work on History, Science Experiments, Art, and Music during the summer. The kids never complain about it since they get to do those with their friends.
We basically go year-round, which helps; right now, we've taken a week and a half off and I'm typing from Orlando at the end of our Disney vacation. I'd rather have too much time at the end than come up short. Might I suggest - instead of an MP3 player for books, that you use the car tape deck or CD player? I like listening to books on tape with my kids because I'm an interrupter; I like to stop and discuss things with the kids, and ask questions like "why do you think she did that?", "what would you do?" etc. Plus when I listen to them, it keeps me involved and gives us a good dinnertime conversation. Just a thought. Good luck, and welcome aboard! SG
We school year round as well. This summer I'm going to do a 2-3 day week, depending on how much we need to cover by the start of the next school year. We should start our new school year in Sept. this varies from year to year. I'm trying to do a 4 day school week with the extra day being our crafts, timeline, library day, and homeschool groups park day. Here lately I've been doing a 5 day school week. (since we're trying to get used to our new curriculum) This next week we will be moving back to a 4 day schedule. We all like that schedule much better.
