I am contemplating going back to a Low carb lifestyle. I had success with it in the past but I am a sweet freak!! When I was eating low carb, I felt so good! I had really made it a lifestyle, not just a "diet". I am 90% sure I am going to do this. My DH is diabetic and I am borderline high blood pressure. Maybe I need some encouragement. Feel free to chime in!
I tried it for a while, but found I was craving fruit! All I wanted was a nice, crisp apple but it was too many carbs! I could see myself kinda, sorta going low-carb again - but I would allow as many fruits as I want! Good luck!
No Low Carb. Diet here... Where health issues are concerned ... I pray you find a suitable one. Good luck!
I am working on cutting out a lot of extra carbs but not where fruits and the necessities are concerned. I do not see a problem in carbs alone. I see a problem in the excess carbs that I eat.
My uncle did this and found the best way he could do it and stick with it was to allow himself to eat normally on the weekends. He didn't gorge; he just ate the regular foods he'd eat if he weren't on a low-carb diet. So, he did a modified version of the diet. He still lost a lot of weight and found he was able to maintain the diet and not 'cheat' during the week since he knew he'd have the weekend to eat what he wanted. I think it helped that he didn't feel deprived that way since it's that feeling that tends to sink people in diets.
I do lo carb. I am having great success with it. Dh does it with me as well. Initially he lost 60 pounds with it and has been able to maintain a great lifestyle and keep most of it off. He caved to some horrible fast food habits for a bit and gained some back but once we got back on.. he's lost again. I love chatting lo carb if anyone is interested.. and I LOVE to cook and have billions of recipes!
My sister-in-law lost a lot of weight eating low carbs. At the same time, she also caused slight damage to her kidneys because there was too much protein in her diet and not enough carbs. Our nutritionist mentioned this during one of the classes, many years ago. He said this is the reason he is against long term, low or no carb diets. Our bodies are made to have a healthy balance of both. I wish I remembered what he called the illness or whatever it is.
