Hey everyone, The Scholastic Warehouse sale is coming up. We went last year and you wouldn't believe the bag of books we got for $40!!! You typically can get between 25-80% off! And if you sign up they give you a coupon for $10 off purchases of $50 or more. And they have them across the country! (I am thinking that this is going to be great for Christmas presents!) http://www.scholastic.com/bookfairs/events/warehouse/ If you do go, I'd advise you to go early. We were a few hours late on the first day here and some teachers had purchased all of the atlases and reference books!
I went without the kids last time and I think I overspent because of stuff I thought was cool and they - ehhhh.... not so much. I'd read it - LOL I spent $100 for both kids.... but would be able to keep it to $50 if I didn't get wrapped up in "series" type books (I love series - not so much my kids)
Every time I try to buy stuff on the scholastic site, when they have their $1 sale... they send me some stuff then cancel the rest of my order, telling me I do not qualify for the discount... And they give no way to dispute it. I am offended, so, if they do not want my money, I do not want their books. Anyone else have that problem?
OOH just in time for Christmas. I got some good deals in the spring. I will have to let my friends know.
I don't think I've ever purchased from their site before? I'm so sorry to hear that they give you problems. I agree that I wouldn't be too happy about it either. They should at least provide a viable reason.
Thanks Autumn. I just signed up as there is a warehouse about 30 mins. from our home in GA. I will be there for the dates of the sale, so it worked out perfectly. Just in time for Christmas too. I hope to get some great deals. I am going to check out their web site and get some ideas ahead of time. I want to get some ideas from the kids as don't think I will bring them. This looks great. Sorry you had a bad experience Jen, I have never purchased from the site before.
I have had the same problem with the site. I think part of the deal is if you have an account set up before the sale then you won't have the problems. I did get some good things though. But their site gets slammed during the sale. I wish we were close to a warehouse, that sounds like fun.
Autumn--Thanks for the heads up! I just registered and will start preparing dh for the amount of money that most likely will be spent!
Our homeschool group just sent out an email about this today! There is a warehouse an hour from us and I'm thinking of grabbing a couple of other homeschool moms and taking off for a girls day out..
We have one about fifteen minutes away, here in GA. I've tried to avoid the past few because I always overspend...but I may just have to hit this next one! I like to buy books for birthday presents, etc. throughout the year, along with fun little trinkets and inexpensive books to give to my kids to jazz up our homeschool a bit. I also love it when they have their posters and calendars for $1. Those make great gifts, too, and the kids love decorating their rooms with posters.
When we went last year I budgeted myself $100, I was so afraid I would go over. I was convinced that I had overspent because of the huge pile of books I had but turns out that I was a few books short of getting the $50 discount so had to go pick out 2 more!
That looks so fun. Wish there was one near me. I doubt I can justify a three hour drive to go buy cheap books, LOL.
