Anyone else get bit by the bakin bug?? Everytime the weather turns cold, I catch it... Today I made two batches of regular white bread dough. Each batch makes two loafs. I made two regular loafs, and one long braided loaf, which I allowed to rise on a cookie sheet... And a batch of crown rolls... I pinch the dogh into three rolls and lace all three into a muffin pan section, repeat 2 times... The house is fabulously hot and it smells so good, right now... Now what to bake... I am good on bread stuff for a few days.... I think I will make a braided loaf of a mix of two strings of wheat bread to one string of white bread. Anyway, just blabbin and wondering if anyone else is sufferin from the bakin bug??
Sunday, Carl took Phillip to an all-day class for hunting. He (Phillip) had to pass to get his license. It started at 8:00, and got over around 6:00. So it was just the girls and I all day long. We baked about four different types of cookies, and put them in the freezer.
Jen, they're beautiful!!! I can make some regular bread, but can't shape anything else. Tell Kris to pick you up in her jet, and fly you down here to teach me how to shape them!
I can't even shape a regular loaf! I just kind of roll it into a longish ball, and put it in my loaf pan. Sometimes it looks really nice, and sometimes it's lopsided! With the crowns, don't you just kind of make three balls and put them together in a muffin pan?
hmmm.......... baking............. Both the girls wanted to bake yesteday........ one an apple pie from scratch and one oatmeal cookies from a mix.
We are going to try our "hand" at turkey handprint cookies this weekend!!! All that bread & muffins look good to me!!!
I was going to ask for the same thing! I usually just buy the frozen bread dough. I'm slowly working the kinks out of my pie crust! I had never even attempted a real pie until a few years ago. Does anyone have a simple recipe for cinnamon rolls?
"Simple" and "Cinnamon Rolls" don't go in the same sentence! HOWEVER...when camping I have made up dough of milk and Bisquick, rolled it out, put butter, chopped apples, cinnamon and sugar on it, rolled it up, sliced it, and then put it in a flat-topped Dutch Oven to cook (with coals on the lid!). If you were ambitious, you could do something like that in the oven!
