anyone got one or two? Are they worth the $20? I have been tempted to get two my little ones. Right now I havejust one computer running and my laptop. Hubby is going to put one the old ones up in the playroom when he returns. They can be rough and just think I rather have them, more my son, beat up a $20 toy verses a $1000 toy. They are rough on the mouse and keyboard so it's more like $30-$50 dollars.

I bought my boys laptops for Christmas 2 years ago when they were 1st grade and PreK...they LOVED them. They were well worth what we paid for them! Hope this helps.

My dd5 got one for Christmas when she was 3. She still plays with it. We have the V-Tech one that has lots of letter and number games.

We got one of the Barbie one for my DD (age 5 at the time). She doesn't play with it tons, but she will sit down once or twice a week and go through all the games. It really helped when we were studying the letters, sounds and numbers. She is starting to get bored with it now as she already knows all of those things. So I may upgrade this spring and get a more advanced one for her.

We have the v-tech thing that hooks up the t.v and my ds who's 3 gets terribly bored with it. He'd rather sing with the microphone over the t.v. I've thought about getting him a laptop but I don't think he'd spend that much time with it. Although, his new thing is to get my dd's ds and color on it and tell us he's doing his school work and he can't eat yet.

there is a type of laptop that if you buy one another one is donated to a kid in a poverish country, I need to find out the name of it but I just saw the commercial for them the other day and I know several of the families in my homeschool group here have gotten them, and they are dourable.

I am not spending that much for my kiddos. $20 is good enough for them. Besides I have 2 desktops from early 2000 in a box for when we have room someday for the. I have the desktop now that I bought almost 4 years ago. I have 2 working laptops, mine for my stuff and DH has his for college (its currently with him so he can look at videos and pics of us) and one that is broken and the price to fix it is insane since I can buy a new one for that price.
I just want something that is like a computer but more of a toy than computer KWIM?
I had the big vtech that finally died (2nd one in 2 years) and will not replace it. I have the handheld and it's our 3rd one and I will not replace it. ihave decided to stay away from Vtech because it don't last in our house.
I just want something that can be durable to be dragged up and down stairs taking to places to keep them busy. I would hate to spend the money and have it broken in a week ya know
    thanks

When my dd12 was 3 or 4 she was given a Barbie laptop for Christmas. It has all kind of games, math and spelling. Now my dd5 plays with it some and dd12 has a real lap top. Lucky girl! I don't even have one. Every year her father buys her a really nice gift. He better cuz he doesn't do nothing else with her. So far she has gotten a tv/dvd combo, karaoke machine, top dollar roller blades, Ipod, laptop with everything you can imagine on it and this year he says he is getting her a digital camera.

My kids go through spurts. They could totally ignore the computer for weeks on end, then all of a sudden one day they can't get enough of it.

We have an OLD mac in our schoolroom that is hooked up to the internet. And we just got a free PC from Freecycle that my Dad jazzed up for us to use with games that only run on PC. I think we'll hook it to the internet too, maybe!

We have a Leapfrog LeapPad that my kids love. We have TONS of books for it - they get them for Christmas most of the time. Again, it goes in spurts. I just got the Phonics programs for it a few months ago...my youngest LOVES feeling like a big kid.

We do have the Barbie Laptop which has reading, spelling, math, etc games on it. I think she was a little old for it when she got it b/c she rarely plays with it (she was actually a little offended that her friend gave it to her! EEEK). BUT...my youngest and my middle play with it all the time.

    Hmmmm....hope that helps!
