It seems like the last few weeks there has been one illness after another hitting us. Head colds, sore throats, stomach bugs, you name it! I am so sick of people being sick and of being sick myself! The new one for today was one of the twins. She has been throwing up all day. She and her husband live across the street and I told her she better not dare come over here and spread the joy! Just needed to vent. Thanks for listening to me whine. Beth
Girl, I feel for you, I think it's this funny weather one mintue you are freezing your hind end off the next you are stripping because it's so darn hot and humid.... I wish it would stay cool and just be done. KWIM... Anyway I hope everyone gets well soon.
Sorry! I hope you all get better soon! That's one of the bad things about this time of year for many---the sick bugs are rampant! Praying for health for you and your family!
I hear ya! My family has been sick for over a month. We had chest congestion and coughs. Now, we have congestion, sneezing, headaches, body aches, chills, and sore throats. My dd, ds and I all had one red eye...not pink eye though. I am praying to be better by Christmas or my mom can't come to visit...she's on chemo.
I'm so sorry to hear all of you are sick! Our winter was like that last year- it was awful! A Dr. recommended daily yogurt- the live bacteria is supposed to help. Since we started that, we seem to be healthier. It has been only a few months though! It wouldn't hurt to try!
Sorry you are going through such a terrible time. I have found that wiping down door knobs, keys, phones, etc. with rubbing alcohol has really cut down on illness in my home.
We have battling the colds for a couple of weeks & last nite now I have a big old cold sore!!! YUCK... I haven't had one of these things in YEARS!!!! I've been busting my butt (staying up late) trying to get a slideshow done for Xmas!!! I don't think that helped any!!! So I hope it goes away soon & before Xmas!!!
Another good thing to do is open your windows and purge the air out. We even put fans in the windows - one pushing and one pulling for a few minutes. We've been fighting on and off with the sinus/chest crud for several months. It doesn't seem to totally go away. Maybe the fact that we were 79 degrees on Thurs and Mon is supposed to have a high of 48 has something to do with it!
I haven't had a cold sore in a long time. I started using "Abreva" (comes in a tiny blue tube) at the first little tingling sensation of a cold sore, and it'd go away! I love it! It may be worth a try! Not sure it'll make one that's already there go away any faster, but if you catch'em right away, they don't get full-blown. This reminds me of a few years ago when the flu bug was going around. I was talking with a group of ladies after church. They were saying how they'd been hit by the flu so bad. I said, "Well, we haven't gotten it yet. I hope we don't!" One of the ladies turned to me and said, "But you homeschool, how would YOU get it?" HUH? She explained that since we never get out we wouldn't get the bugs that others got. Ummm, weren't we right now out at church? And we had homeschool groups we did stuff with, and shopping, and ortho. and dentist, an YMCA classes, and Prayer Meeting, and a Church kids group (like boy/girl scouts), etc. Oh but that's about all though! So, I'm just wondering how you guys are getting sick if you're really homeschoolers (since obviously we NEVER get out)???!
Sloan - Really feel for ya as we have been the same. Started with a stomach virus, been sinus/colds for weeks on end with the temp changes. I thought we were finally all on the mend when ds17 comes down with a 103 temp and sick. SIGH, looks like he brought something home from his job besides leftovers.... ((((hugs)))) and prayers!
Most of the family is over the worst of it. Bobby is just now getting it though and I am still having sinus problems with it. It has been yucky! Poor Bill had a terrible time with it. He cannot blow his nose and he really felt awful. He got all chapped under his nose. It is almost better now. Praying everyone's families are well for Christmas. Beth
