does anyone have a cricut machine and do you use it enough to make up for how expensive it is? with my birthday coming up mac would like to know what i would like and before i say i want one of these i need to know a little more about it.
you know Amy, I have seen these on tv alot they have them on always so much cheaper then Walmart, like they sell them for 80 then you go to Wal mart and they are 200 dollars. I don't understand. Ok I know thats not what you ask. I was just wondering if you knew the differents? I don't have one but I think I would like one. Tell Mac to go ahead and buy me one too. LOL
I don't have one, but for me it would be a waste of money since our local scrapbooking store AND our local treasures 4 teachers store both have die cut machines that I can use for free, and since the scrapbooking store is less than 2 miles from my house we use it often.
I have one! I love it. I use it for so much more than just scrapbooking. I purchased a 3rd party program called Sure Cuts A Lot (SCAL) to go with it. It allows you to use the Cricut to cut any font or dingbat you have on your computer (I have over 200). You can also use a free program called Inkscape to convert any .jpeg image (like clip art) to a file that can be cut on your Cricut using SCAL. I only have one Cricut cartridge (needed for the machine & program to work), and no intention of ever buying more cartridges. Being able to do all that with it makes it worth the money, IMO.
I have the baby bug and the expression... I love them! As a scrapbooker and homeschooler I use mine a lot ;-)
I wish I had one!LOL If I had one, then yes, it would be worth it for me. I make and sell cards. It would really come in handy and make things a lot cheaper in the long run and faster. Cards that are made with it look so professional yet still have the look of something homemade.
Just last night I was organizing my craft supplies and I hinted to Handsome that I would have a lot less extras if I had a Cricut. He just gave me the look. LOL
I want to get SCAL but I'm trying to be good and use up my stash and use all of my cartridges first (I have 17 carts) before I purchase the SCAL. It's going to be my reward for *good* behavior lol. ;-) Do you have it?
We need multi-quote! I have the original baby bug. I don't have room to keep the big one, and with SCAL I can manipulate my cuts to fit lengthwise on my cutting mat (so I could make a cut 12" tall and 6" wide if I wanted). Dingbats/Doodlebats are "fonts", that when you hit a letter on your keyboard it types a picture instead of a letter. I never would have bought a Cricut without SCAL. I can't afford to buy a bunch of cartridges. I bought my machine from the infomercial and sold the 2 cartridges that came with it... you'd be surprised at how many cartridge "collectors" are out there willing to buy them. I sold them for $60 each, which covered one monthly payment on my Cricut, and the other $60 I used to buy the paper doll cartridge (you need a cartridge in the machine for it to work, even with SCAL).
If you are looking for one and don't mind getting an used one try looking on craigslist.com. Here in my area they are going for 80-120 bucks. So huge savings for the baby bug ;-)
well i got it......just used it for the first time. i have a lot to learn. but i got enough from it to make my first few cards and for eva to make one for her dad. my cartridges are the school something one and the basic one.
oh yeah here is my story...... we went to walmart and was jusdt about to reach for it and another lady said "i'm buying that"....... it wasn't in her hands yet i wanted dh to just get it..... but we didn't we went to jo-anns and got one..i was sad that we couldn't use the 40 percent off coupon or the educator card discount on it.
