My kids like "Typing Instructor for Kids". It has practice and games (typing related) that they enjoy.

My kids also use Mavis Beacon and they love it and both (11 & 8 years old) can type over 20 words a minute. They have lessons and fun games.

This is the one we own. Works well, and kids like it.
Purchased it last year with my Alpha Omega order.

I found JumpStart typing in a box I had put away, I'm going to give it a try. I think I'll check out the free one mumtoo3 posted too. If they don't work for him I guess I might actually have to PAY for one. *gasp*

I was playing with this, it's fun and it will help the kids learn to use the correct fingers.

    Thanks for the link.

We gave them both a try and ds seems to like the online one better. And he's doing really well with it!

    I like the bbc site.
We moved to Deluxe typing when ds was finished with it.
Deluxe is ok, but too old for a 6yo. (I think they have a kid version)
Some of the lessons have gotten very repetitive.
But the games are pretty fun.
I like that I can put in lessons for him.
and they have magazine articles to type too, on different topics. I thought it was a sneaky way to get some reading in, but ds says he does not read the words, only types the letters.
How can the words not go in? Maybe that is his perception???
Anyway, his typing is much improved.

YES! Thanks for the BBC link! My daughter LOVES it (9). She really is enjoying learning how to type!

We have an opp to get an inexpensive version of the Mavis Beacon one....debating about that one for sure. But maybe this will be enough to give her some skills!

    THANKS!

Mine loved this too, and they are great touch typists now...my 11 year old types about 35 words a minute...better than many adults.
