We were in a car accident almost two weeks and the car was totaled so now we have to get a new one. Ofcourse not planning to get one this soon (we were still paying on the other one) just the thought is making my head spin. I really would like an SUV or crossover and, though, a mini-van is not my preference I am not totally opposed to it. Our rental is a PT Cruiser, which is what DH really wants but since I do 95% of the driving I am getting what I like. The PT is not bad but there are few things that I don't like about it. The main one is that I cannot reach the floor (yes I am short) and it is pretty uncomfortable to drive. I was wondering what some you ladies on The Spot drive and what you think of them. Are they dependable, roomy, snow-friendly? What about the MPG? What are the safety features. Why did you buy that particular car/van/etc? Any suggestions on what I should look at? I am planning to look at a RAV4, a Mazda 5, and Dodge Caliber. And, yes the PT Cruiser too.
Hi I drive a Chevy Uplander. I like it fine. Many people who own the same type of vehicle say it is an ugly lemon. My hubby and I have been pretty pleased with ours. Good luck on your car search!
Ds just bought a brand new Mazda CX-7, he LOVES it. Crossover with four wheel drive. We drive a Suburban.
Haven't heard of the Chevy Uplander but will look into it. DH drives a Chevy ('98 Malibu) and it has been really good to us especially now for it's age. I saw the Mazda CX-7 on their website. What does your son think of the roominess in it? What I really would like is a 6 or 7 seater but I am keeping my options open. My car was a Pontiac Grand Prix and I loved it. I will miss my baby. The last time I went car shopping it took me several months to get what I wanted. Drove my DH bonkers.
He loves how much room it has. If you like the larger one there is the CX-9. Ds is 5' 10" so there is a lot of room and oldest ds is 6' tall and he sat in the back seat yesterday and had plenty of room.
I have a pontiac bonneville and I just love pontiacs. My last several cars have been pontiac. I am just like you shopping for a car. It drives my dh nuts too. But I want to make sure it's the right one. We looked at the buick crossover type vehicle last week while my car was getting work done and it was really nice. My car is paid for so it will be with us a looooong time. Good luck and have fun shopping!
Funny you should ask...I JUST bought a car yesterday. After doing some research, I ended up going with a 2005 Hyundai Tucson (only had 1 owner, very low miles.) I've only driven it around today, but so far I love it. I liked some of the other cars a little bit better, I think, but in the end we went with the lower price/low miles. I almost caved to a minivan just for the extra room (my previous car was a volvo wagon with the 3rd row seat...wish I could've afforded a newer one of those! Loved it!) The annoying thing is just how ridiculous buying a car is. They are all scammers and the whole process is just one big show. I did a ton of research online about buying a car and got advice on how to deal with all their games. It was such a joke to watch them in action. And even at the end they were being so sneaky, trying to trick me into an extended warranty (for *only* $1,800) and a bunch of other stuff I never agreed to. Never even mentioned it to me, just tried to get me to sign the paperwork! Ugh!
I have a pontiac Bonneville that I LOVE! It's perfect for us, drives well in the monsoons we get here but I don't know about snow...I'd think it'd do just fine. I personally won't drive anything if it's not a pontiac or Chevrolet. THat's just me, I love those cars they are dependable, durable, last forever, and imo the safest! Oh and I also like that I can fix them myself!
I got the pay off on the car and will be getting a check here soon. We will be going car shopping this weekend. Wish me luck.
My Grand Prix handled beautifully in the snow. Hope I get that lucky this time around. Thankfully, that car was all hood as I think the out come of the accident would have been far, far worse.
I drive a Nissan Armada 4x4 I affectionately refer to as "The Beast". I love it. It is my most favorite vehicle I have ever owned. It seats 8 total and is very very roomy. Even the 3rd row seating has lots of leg room and you can fold it down for storage. Before that I owned a 4Runner. Liked it a lot especially the sunroof but it wasn't nearly as large as the Armada. I had no trouble car shopping. Dh and I went down to CarMax, told them what we wanted (a big gas guzzling SUV), looked around, took a drive and traded in the 4 runner. Never had even a little bit of pressure from the sales rep and no hidden fees.
