    Latin/Languages

Oh fun. Short answer: Winter Promise and Illuminations (with Mystery of History) from Bright Ideas Press. Maybe MFW for the littles. A Reason for Handwriting. Hm. More later!

You are on a roll today! Cool topics. :)

If money was no object, I wouldn't make too many changes.
For foreign languages, I would have multiple programs for multiple languages. That way, the kids would have more options of which languages they wanted to learn as well as which program they wanted to use.
For History & Science, I would have more books (not textnooks, just books), more Science tools, and plenty of materials for projects.

I like what we're using for Math (TT for dd & Mastering Mathematics for ds). We finally found a way to do Spelling/Vocab & Writing that work for us. So, I wouldn't want to change those. We still haven't found anything I really like for Grammar. So, I can't really say what I'd use for that.

I'm not sure I'd make a lot of changes to what we are using. I scope out good deals to fit my budget. I would buy all of the books to go with FIAR instead of using the library!

What I would spend money on would be more outside activities- art and music classes, sports, etc.

I would still school on the cheap. I wouldn't worry about spending lots of time hunting for a great deal on things I want to use like TT.. but would still look for it used.

    Math - Keep using MUS
Spelling - We do spelling with our Hooked on Phonics program
Grammar - I have no clue! I'm not sure what to use for a first grader. If I was going to homeschool dd12 next year I'd use Lightening Lit
Handwriting - I wouldn't change it. We do copywork
    Writing - don't know
Languages - probably hire a tutor
History - buy enough books to fill a huge home library and take tons of field trips
Science - Apologia and tons of lap equipment

Math- still Horizons for gr 1-3 and Saxon for the rest but I would buy lots of reinforcing software like the math club 2.0

    Spelling not sure

    Grammar- not sure

Handwriting- I would still do A Reason for Handwritting

Writing- I would have lots of different books as resources to spark ideas for creative writting.

Latin/Languages- I would have Rossetta Stone in a ton of Languages. Dd wants to learn Chinese and Spanish. I want to learn Hebrew, Aribic and Greek.

History- I would stilll use Sonlight but probably buy a few standard texts for resources.

Science- not sure but probably stay with Sonlight and Apologia

I suppose it's only fair that I post what I would use if money were no object since I'm picking other people's brains....

Math: A Beka until they were old enough for TT

Spelling: ummmmmmm beyond Abeka I don't know

Grammar: A Beka but I'd get all the teacher goodies to go with it.

Handwriting: I wouldn't change this as we already use HWT

    Writing: Writing With Ease

    Latin/Languages: Rosetta Stone

History: K-8 would be Story of the World...after that I'm lost

Science: Apologia and all the goodies all the way!!

Oh, I would get Rosetta Stone language!! And although I did break down and buy TT, I wouldn't stress over the price (Thanks to jrv for giving me a great deal!!).

Heidi, Have you tried Book Samaritan? They provide free curriculum for those in need. If money were no object. I'd donate all my old stuff instead of selling it to buy more!

We just received a box from them not too long ago! I'm so thrilled! I only need a package of paper for printing internet freebies to bring my boy up to speed in certain areas.

If money was no object, I wouldn't use a curriculum and I would unschool and I would travel the world and it would be our classroom.

I wouldn't have a clue on what I would use book wise but if money was no object my 25ft trailer would get traded in for a Class C or Class A camper. The kids and I would go and travel the country while hubby was deployed. Don't worry we'd send good pics and video to him. After traveling the US I would then travel around the world with Germany being the first place to visit since I went there when I was 18.
What greater way to learn than to experiance everything first hand.

If money we not object, I'd pretty much keep what I have, but do some language immersion in another country and some super great history field trips around the world. Hmmm...Looks like I can "kill 2 birds with one stone" once we win the lottery.

I'd buy books for them to read - all the good classics plus more.

I agree about the traveling part - but I don't travel well without my DH - so he has to retire :) Only 5 more years!!

Oh yeah traveling would be a must! I would love to do trips to NYC and Philly as a minimum. Since dd will be doing Egypt next year a trip to there and the Holy Land would be nice too.

I forgot about traveling. We would definitely travel whenever possible. We'd also go on lots more field trips & get the kids in extra-curriculars that we can't afford now.

I'd buy the full spectrum Sonlight. Probably start with Core 3/4 US History (just b/c my kids are light on that right now).

Probably buy all the Answers in Genesis Science books and their companion recommendations.

Math....hmmmm....in prep for High School (which is YEARS away) I'd get Life of Fred books just to have.

    :)

AND I'd make our own library of all the amazing classics of literature, art and poetry (okay, so the art would be reproductions), and a music collection to envy (classical anyway). :D

I'd donate all my old stuff instead of selling it to buy more![/QUOTE]

    EXACTLY!lol Wish I could give...but I can't buy w/o selling old/used stuff *sigh*
    (books)

Rosetta Stone! In many languages. (books)

Travel! Yes! I would still use mine AWOA spine to learn a bit while on our way to the next destination! I would want to stay as long as we choose, but would temper that as much as possible..........I would like to stay as long as it took to learn enough of the language to get by at least )

TT!! I made the mistake of watching a ton (most all of them on one grade!!LOL) (books) of his samples.............before...........I checked the price!
    (WHAT was I thinking????LOLOL *sigh* again. :)

    Atlases of every kind.
Globes!!!! Big and small and fancy.
MAPS All kinds...from every century from everywhere.

*Extras* such as antique compasses and a bunch of the fancy gadgets and tools that people used to use so we (my kids and I and just people who come to visit) can see and feel what it used to be like.

A computer for our son so he does not have to use ours!)

Oops! Off the trail. I am happy with my curriculum otherwise!

Thanks for the fun post, now back to reality.

    Blessings!
    Sherri
