Eeek~ I messed up on the poll, my first one. Should say 13 years. LOL We homeschooled from K-12, so that is 13 years!
Okay, I have one going into the 12th next year, won't be doing that one. the other one just finished last month, and the last one has 6 more years! YEAAAAAAH! Not sure if we will school in high school for my last one, he wants to stay home but is a sportsy kind of guy so I want him on a team sport with school. If I can arrange that with out him going I will home school all the way! Maybe I can do independant study at some point so he can join the school teams?
Ok.. I voted 3-5 years.. we will be finishing up our 3rd year next Friday!!!! You can only select one.. but our plans are to keep the kids all home through highschool.. even if it means going to cyberschool come the higher levels if I begin to struggle... or the laws change to be even harder than they are now.
This is our 11th year of homeschooling. I go with what we feel is best for each child. My oldest was homeschooled 2nd-10th, and has excelled in the Christian school he's going to (Junior and senior years)--he's graduating with a 3.9 gpa, can speak Spanish ALMOST fluently, has made some life-long friends, and has learned a strong work ethic. My 15yo is a totally different person, and we are more likely to homeschool him all the way through highschool. My dd may be homeschooled all the way through highschool as well. I hope these two work out to finish homeschool highschool, that's my wish! But I'm open to where the Lord leads, which, for my oldest, was to go to the Christian school these past two years. It really sharpened his focus on what he wants to do, and what God wants him to do! We pray for direction, and try to follow it!
You're asking two separate questions! 1) How long...? Currently we're on Year 10. 2) through 12th grade? YES Like Sommer, I could only answer one of them; I told how many years I've done so far.
We are finishing year 3. Sam is going back to school for 8th grade in the fall and I plan to homeschool Grace till at least junior high maybe through high school. We will discuss it when she hits junior high age.
I voted 3-5 but really I guess it's 2 full years and part of a third...anyway, we do plan to continue through high school at this point (esp. if we live where we currently do). Our kids have attended a Dept of Defense school previously and it was a great school. Depending on the opportunities as an Army family, we'd have to play it by ear. But if we retire here, they won't be going back to school barring some weird circumstance (never say never sort of deal :lol
I've only been homeschooling with actual curriculum for a little over a week now. Before then, we just did informal schooling. I'm not sure how long we'll homeschool. Ideally, I'd like to homeschool all the way through high school, but we're just going to take it a year at time. We'll assess each year and see how it's working for us.
We are finishing up year 2 and loving it. Not sure if we will homeschool all the way through or not. I don't plan to put them in public school, but would consider a church school. We are open to options if they seem like a better choice for either boy at a later time.
I clicked '3-5' but only because in your comment section you qualified it with K-12. My 7 yo has never been in public school, but we have essentially unschooled her thus far (she's in 2nd grade). Next year we'll be a little more formalized. I am open and hoping to HS through high school, but I do have to recognize the possibility that it may not work for one of my kids. But insofar as it does, I intend to.
We're just getting started this coming year, when my oldest will be five. I am hoping to homeschool them up through the eighth grade and then send them to high school. My husband and I both loved our public high schools and really enjoyed sports, friends, and being able to take honor and AP classes. Who knows though? Maybe we'll change out minds somewhere along the line..we have a lot of years ahead of us.
3 years in June, and I don't see an end for us at this time. Won't rule high school possibilities out, but at this point it's what works and what is best for my kiddos - and it makes good sense that it will continue to be. So, we're in it for the long haul!
