We used Saxon Phonics 1 My daughter used Saxon Phonics K in public school, so I continued with Saxon Phonics 1 in 1st grade when we started homeschooling. She did great with it, but really got bored with it about half way to 3/4 of the way through the year. It is very scripted, which was great for me as a first time homeschooler. I'm not planning on using it with my 5 year old this coming year. I just don't think he can sit through that long of a scripted lesson yet. He's much too active. The lessons took about 20-30 minutes for 1st grade. By the way, she's an excellent reader. So, I do recommend it because it seemed to work well. HTH, Patty P.S. Right now I'm working through the ETC books A,B,&C with my younger one. Someone gave me HOP. So, we're going to give that a try this summer and see how it goes.
Well we tried ETC he hated it. Then we tried 100 ez lessons well as soon as he saw the book, it was a fight he hated it even more. Now we are using HOP, and it is well not the best fit. Like when you use the cd by the time you flip the card to the next letter they are already done saying it. I am not to impressed with the program. I am starting to think my child is an anti phonics child. He just want to read without all the phonics stuff. Any ideas???
Phonics Pathways? I have a friend that used this with her daughter this year and loved it. She said she's reading at a 2nd grade level now. (I think after 1 year) She used the Bob Books in combination with it. It's one book and pretty inexpensive. I also had someone else tell me Abeka's Phonics program was really good. She's supposed to be pulling it out of her attic for me to look at. She said I really didn't need to buy the workbooks to do the program with him if I didn't want to (that it's alot of busy work). I'll post on here again after I look at it. I'm sorry I'm not more help. Patty
