Michael's has these really cool wood crafts for $1.00 - $5.00. Ems got the scorpion.

Michael's has tigers, pirate ships, cruise ships, whales, sharks, bridges, forts, etc...
Once they are painted they look very neat.
However, Ems doesn't want to paint her scorpion.

The cheaper ones are smaller and the larger ones are a good size once they are assembled.
Em's scorpion was $2.00 and it takes up a good portion the of chair seat.

These would be great for school projects.

Patty, those are so neat, my girls got theres from Harbor Freight Tools I don't know if you have one there they run around $1.00 each they did several of them last Christmas for gifts. Like a motorcycle for some friends of ours who love to cycle. They are really neat. I had the girls paint them first.

Check out the Dollar stores, in the toy or craft section. I have even seen some that were painted with decent detail work all for just a buck. I love our Dollar Tree store it has a little of everything ,even workbooks to keep my 6 year old son busy when he gets "bored".

we used these when we studied Dinosaurse to pretend we were finding the bones.. of course they are more for puzzles than acuracy but at the youngr age it was more fun to put them together than to be perfect! lol

Love the scorpion Patty. My DD has a horse in her closet that we have been neglecting. Maybe this will get us motivated to put it together.

My DS put together a tank once. These types of puzzles are pretty time consuming though.

I bought about 3 for my nephew for Easter.
They hardly have boy type things for Easter so I thought I would put those and some candy in a bucket for him. I also added some wood glue so the animals can stay put forever.

Did you know that Lowes and Home Depot have wood projects every month for free. The boys love it. they get aprons and patches w/certificates each time.

Lowes is the 2nd and 4th Saturday and HD is the 1st Sat. of each month.

Will have to see if we can swing by a Micheals to check out the ones they have. :)

    Michaels classes are free now!
It is very random dates now though.

Plus at Michaels they have Make and Take jewelry classes for free also!!
We have made a key chain ( with crystals) and a leather braclet.
Next up for jewelry is a nice necklace charm.

They also have science experiment demos too. We go in on those days and do the hands on experiments. You don't get to take anything home ( unless like us the teacher is a good friend and at the end of class she gives us the leftovers!!) but they give you discount coupons for the kits.
We made "snow" and "worms" the last time.

Wow I didnt know about the lowes one! I will have to check into it while ds still meets age requiremments, he loves wood working. We have a bird house out back because he wanted to make one, dh used my dads old how to books to build it too! So cool!
Michaels has bird house kits too, we didnt use that, but they are really easy to do! I am thinking of doing one with dd cause both ds' did one from scratch with ds annd it would only be fair to have her make one too! I can just see it now it will be pink with flowers on it! LOL!

I didn't know Home Depot had classes. I need to see when our Home Depots offer them.
