    Hi,

I am looking for a good curriculum for my DS grade 4 and DD grade 6 for Language Arts.

Some people told me that Language Arts Through Litterature is a complet curriculum.

I need something the kids can do almost by themselves (francophone mom with anglophone kids) and with a good teacher book...I hate when I look at the answers and more then half of thems are ''answer may vary''.
It's not helping me at all!!!

Let me know what you think.

    Heln

    Hi there,
We have used Sonlight for 5 years. Sonlight has a wonderful teacher's guide and they use real books. They provide a great money back guarantee if it's not a good fit for you or your children.
    Blessings,
    Jana

We have used LLATL for a few years, and are happy with the program.

I think results will vary. To me it depends on what you want them to learn as Language Arts is such a BROAD topic :)

    Spelling?
    Vocabulary?
    Reading Comprehension?
    Grammar?

    See what I mean?

You might want to take a look at Rod and Staff - it's VERY precise in their teacher books and kids books and you can usually order samples for free (don't know how it would work being in Quebec)

For literature - I would actually just have them read and narrate it to you. For a good list check out amblesideonline.org for stuff. Don't worry about the year - they don't need to match the grade level (for example my son is in 7th grade and doing year 5 - daughter is in 4th grade and doing year 3)

    ok everyone.
If you want to send me ideas, keep in mind that I am a francophone mother with anglophone children. So it need to be complete with a good.
And because Quebec is strict about what to use, I need non-religion books and workbooks. I keep religion separate from the rest.

so....I dont think Rod & Staff would be a good idea if I want to keep peace with the school board. Looks a bit bible oriented...

Rod and Staff's English is good and some of the sentences do have biblical references but anyone one can use them and they are good.
I am using LLATL (orange) with my daughter who is 9, 4th grade. I am also using First Language Lessons volume 4. Since that is the last volume I will go with Rod and Staff but if we like LLATL then I will stick with them. It looks laid back but enjoyable. My daughter is interested in it, her friend who is 10 enjoys it (they are about done with it) and I am keeping FLL because my daughter enjoys it.
