    Hello friends!

I hope you are all enjoying a wonderful weekend. The boys and I are at my mom's house- my nephew is graduating tomorrow. We are enjoying an overabundance of relatives- lots of fun, conversation, and food!

What does everyone have planned for today? We are off to my sister's for a BBQ- my mom and her DH, two sisters and their families and my brother and his wife- about two dozen of us.

I'll chat with you all later!
Drink your water and kiss your kids! And today, remember our military- past and present. They have provided us with the freedoms we enjoy each day!

Laughing at your "overabundance of relatives!"

It's another day of work for us, but I'm remembering the pastor's words that we are living memorials to Jesus Christ every day.

I'm dealing with an abundance of food and a too-true addage about leftovers:

"Too little to keep, too much to dump--that's what makes a housewife plump!"

    HaHa...PH...love that quote - SOO true! :)

We've had a super busy weekend and have eaten WAY too much. But did have a nice time with various sections of our LARGE extended family!

I'm a tad on the sad side today, as this would have been my due date, if I had not miscarried in Oct. I know God has a plan though, and hope to have happy news soon!

My garden is looking up and I ate the first squash yesterday! The first sunflower has bloomed and I'm planning to buy extra beans today to plant for a supply of bean sprouts! :)

GT--I'm sorry for the touch of sadness this day brings! Praise the Lord you are healthy and happy, getting exercise and doing well. I will pray that good things happen soon!

Prairie--Love your quote! Hope you're doing well!

MT3--Hope your overabundance of relatives went well!

We didn't have anyone over or go anywhere. We DID prayer for those in the military, and had our flag out, though! We did a big project as a family yesterday. There's a back area that the previous owners made as a garden area. Good idea--bad spot. It doesn't get nearly enough sun to grow things well, except weeds! So we've tried a couple things, but always ended up with icky weeds and hoping noone went in our back yard! ;) We dug out and pulled the rocks away, and carried them to different areas of our back yard. We pulled weeds and acraped moss. We spent 3 3/2 hours out there, and made a BIG improvement on what it looked like! I had a sore back last night though! But it felt good that we finally did something!

Today, I got the bug again (my kids are now hoping for rain so I don't run out and make them do yardwork!), and cut down two icky trees the previous own had planted and we had put up with since we moved here (7 years ago). While they carried branches and cleaned up dirt, I dug and pulled out roots and the final part of the trunks. That took about an hour and 15 minutes, so at least I cut their work-time in half! :D Now my back is kind of sore again, but I feel good!

I took a 35-minute walk on Sunday, 3 1/2 hours of "hard labor" on Monday, and 1 1/4 hours of "hard labor" today! So I've certainly been getting my exercise in! It feels good to be able to get out in some good whether and get things accomplished!

GT, YAY, your first squash! You'll probably be begging us to come take some off your hands pretty soon! :D

Have a great rest of the week everyone!

    Hello everybody!

There has been a lot of running around for us. My mom is still visiting and it seems as though there are a million places she wants to go!LOL
    But I enjoy her company.

I haven't had much sleep the last week because our new dog decided she wants to be a jumper.:?
Every night I kept thinking that she will get out and something bad would happen.
We live on a 50 mile an hour street and people fly faster than that. Since she is a black dog I kept fearing that she would be hit by a car at night or worse, cause an accidet. Well, three nights ago we heard a car slam on its breaks and skid. My stomach sunk because it skid for what seemed like a few seconds. Somebody stopped next to the car and asked the driver if he hit it.
Right away I thought it was my dog. So I went out back and she was running around the back yard. The driver was fine and drove away. I do not know if it was my dog or not since she was in the back when
I went to look for her. Handsome and I decided we better tie her up at night and when we aren't home. As much as she hates it, I would hate to find that she caused a car accident or was killed by a car.
We are still house training her so once she is trained, she can come in at night.
With some work I think we can break her of jumping because she is very trainable and enjoys pleasing us.

I haven't been walking much since my mom arrived. But my eating habits have been good. I am drinking plenty of water and kissing my family.:D

    Hello!! :p

The boys and I made it home after midnight last night- tired but happy. We had a wonderful visit with family, and graduation was very nice. I got a tear or two just thinking of my nephew graduating!

Well, in four days we packed in a trip to the cemetery; a trip to the "falls"; watching base-jumpers off a bridge; disc-golfing with my little brother; an hour of "Guitar Hero" with same brother; a family BBQ; horseback riding; trampoline jumping; my sons sat in the hot tub and ate breakfast!; dinner out at the restaurant my parents used to own; visits, visits, and more visits; hours holding the littlest members of the family.... it was great.

For the family BBQ I used mini choc donuts and put a little frosting on and stuck a chocolate graham cracker square on the top. (To look like the mortar board caps). A little bit of frosting, a mini M&M "button" and some licorice for the tassle and we had cute graduation caps. They were such a big hit that my sister asked if I could make more for her son's 5th grade graduation the next morning. 32 more for that! Total sugar but they looked SOOO cute! ;)

    Let's see.... P.H.- cute quote!!

Hugs to gardenturtle! And yeah on the first things from the garden!

Deena- Wow. Sounds like a huge project! I bet it looks nicer now though!

Patty- glad the visit with your mom is going well. I think I would be tying up the dog too until you can train her. Get some sleep!

pkrustic- so glad to hear the wedding went well and we will be looking for pictures!!

Well, almost time to head out to the baseball diamond- DS has a late game tonight. I hope I can stay awake!! LOL

Drink your water and kiss your kids! Talk later!!! MT3

Yes, I'd like to say this all, too, plus a great big, "HOW DO YOU DO IT ALL?" question for you and your activities, MT3! I hope you stayed awake!

    A lovely good morning all!

The baseball game went well- we won 7-5. It was nice as the sun went down and the temps dropped a little- it was 86 when we started. Today should be about 90.

DS #1 started a paper route last week (it was covered while we were out of town). It is a local, afternoon paper, so it works well. However, once a week a paper needs delivered to everyone who doesn't have a regular paper delivered. Since it was a late night last night I rubber-banded all 125 papers this morning before waking DS up. We delivered half before I had to come to work, and will do the other half when we do the regular route this afternoon.

The boys are working on some school today (we do a shorter schedule during the summer). We are finishing up a couple of things right now. Have any of you heard of workboxes? I'm wondering if that system would help me with my ever-wandering 9 yr old? Each subject or assignment is in its own box (or envelope), and he knows he has all of them to do by the end of school. I'll have to keep looking into this- some people put a note card that says "take a break" or "feed the dog", etc. hmmm...

Okay, time to get busy again! Have a fantastic day!!

Drink your water and kiss your kids! MT3

P.S. To P.H.- I seem to function better when I have LOTS to do- and the boys love all the different things we manage to experience. Sometimes it's crazy- but it is how we live!! ;)
