I'm busy planning for next year and wonder if anyone has experience with any of the art curriculums out there? Currently, I'm interested in Artistic Pursuits, I can Do All Things by Barry Stebbing and Mark Kistler's Draw Squad. Rebekah will be in the 2nd grade - 6/7 and loves art.

    Thanks,
    Teresa

I just recieved our Artistic Pursuits, but it is for an older child.
We will start in next week as the boys wanted a week "off" before starting our summer program.

You can check out some really awesome art books at the library if you care to save some money.

The Phonics of Drawing is one I just got for my kids. It has multi-level lessons for ages 6 and up. Here's the site: www.teachartathome.com

When I was in 2nd or 3rd grade we had an art teacher that started off with an art type like cave drawings showed us examples and then had us draw our own to tell a story. Each week was a new type of art form and by the end of the school year we had told a complete story. ( you know kind of like at the end credits of wall-e if you've not seen it you can see it here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6wgicmUAfw )

You can also do art appriciation by going to a museum or art galleries. Discussing what the artist meant to say with his work. You can even pick a night at the end of the course year to gather up all her different pictures, hang them up gallery style, serve punch and h'our dorves, dress up fancy and give an art show to friends and family.
