    Hello!
I am putting together a sylabus for a drama class next I may be teaching next fall for either home school co op or the church's High School class.

I am looking for ideas, I have some training in this area but I would appreciate it if you would ask your kids what kind of thing ( teens and tweens please) they would like ot learn about acting, theatrical as well as Movies.... I plan to have both done , the movie of course will be filmed by amatures and such but the idea of retakes and putting it together is part of what I want to teach. Reading cue cards, and teleprompters even!
That part will be second semester...

So any ideas to add to my packet?
I will start with the basics and play charades.... talk about some vocabulary words and such for them to put in a note book, which is going to be in thier list of supplies: Notebook, pencils, pens, various hats or scarves or occasional props.

So far my plan is to have them learn how to show emotions needed to act, we plan to put on a play such as Our Town or a simlar level of production as part of the fall semester then the movie drama will be the second semester.

I am volunteering this at dds choice of schooling next year, so please add as many ideas as you can!
    thanks!

I have nothing to offer, but wow!! This sounds great. Wish you lived by me.

I am just trying to start a drama team at church. Not sure where to start or where to find good powerful skits.

Sorry for the thread hijack. But if you have some good ideas for me, I would really really really appreciate them.

our drama team gets a lot of ideas from GodTube and Utube, THey look for christian music geared skits...

For big dramas there are a few out there. With whole things, look online under the heading Christian skituations

Okay-- I have "our Town" but I want to have one or two others to have in my packet as suggested plays we could do.. anyone have a fav thats not over done such as Annie is? Annie and Christmas Carole are done by two schools in our area every year... they need to be uhmm.. "proper" as possible, I mean it would be fun to do somthing like West Side story but I dont think we have enough $$ to do the stage haha!
Though that is an option eh?
Think of broadway plays... older times... or even modern day things we can do that are basically clean launguage because this is a CHristian school group.

I think American Girl has some plays. My kids, both male and female were in one last year.

Ebay one was good I am asking dh to bid for it! or buy now , it may be a bit young but teens often like to play younger kids in plays I have seen in the dramas of Annie and such, so who knows?

Sometimes the kids have the most fun with skits they create themselves. They just need the right prompts and a little practice, and soon they learn to improvise quite well.

You may actually have budding playwrights right under your nose and not even know it. Even kids in their early teens may be able to write surprisingly good plays, so it is a good idea to give them a chance if they want to try. Just warn them ahead of time that their plays may be edited to appeal to an audience of parents.
