    Hello all.

Well, I am thoroughly discouraged at my weight this week. I gained two more pounds. UGH!! At this rate I am going to be on the PLUS side for the year, not the minus side. I am so glad that fruits and veggies are starting to look better/be more cost friendly at the grocery store!

How was everyone's weekend? We have had thunderstorms and rain, but mostly sunny during today. The boys and I got outside for a bit, and then they went bike-riding to some friends' house. I'm trying to get busy and get some things done so I'm more ready for the new week!

What's in store for this week? DH is working every day, but will be off in time for the baseball games this week. DS #1 has his last catechism class- he'll be confirmed in our church on the 21st. I can't believe it! The boys and I will be part of the ACS Cancer walk this weekend, DS #1 is raising money for his Congressional Award goal too. So pretty busy here.

Talk to you all soon! Check in when you can!

Drink your water and kiss your kids! MT3

    :)

I've gained weight, too. My metabolism is so efficient, it leaches out and deposits every calorie!

Congratulations on your son's catechism--an important study of faith and doctrine!

Our pastor taught this morning about worship--how that sometimes people come to church and may sing and say words in prayer, but if they haven't encountered God and haven't been challenged or changed in some way, then they may not have really worshipped. We're praying that our younger children will encounter God in a way that inspires them to follow up with catechism and baptism also; so I rejoice with you and your son!

Good morning! Looks like it's going to be a beautiful one here in E. TX! I'm looking forward to getting out in my garden in a little while.

I don't think I've lost much weight either - and my dh has dropped about 20 lbs without trying!! ARG! LOL! Actually, his new-ish job requires him to walk a huge distribution wearhouse on inspections, so...off comes the extra weight. All his pants are falling off...I wish my skirts would have a similar prob.! :)

I fixed a delish (and what should have been healthy) side dish yesterday: squash, zuchinni and carrot - sliced thin, in bowl, splash with olive oil, sprinkle with chicken bouil. gran. and microwave approx. 5 min. Yum! We all seemed to enjoy it! Yay - new summer healthy dish!

It's always a wonderful thing to see our kids responding to God in a positive way! :) My dd is young, but I love to see her sing in church (even if she doesn't know all the words) and clap her hands and play her tiny tamborine! :)

Aside from kissing my children and drinking water, I have neglected everything else this week! LOL

Hi all! It's good to know you guys are here!

PH- thanks for sharing what your pastor said. Ours likes to say that he preaches meat and potatoes- that if you want cake and fluff you are in the wrong place. (And you know what? Meat and potatoes takes more "digestion" if you will. Fluff is sweet, but it just disappears.)

GT- congrats to your DH on losing the weight! Yum, your side dish sounds tasty! Thanks for sharing. Cute picture I got of your DD shaking her tambourine!

Hey Patty! How have you been? Well, at least you are doing the important things- lol. Has your mom gone home yet? Are things returning to normal?

The weather should even out a little this week, and then get much warmer by the weekend (in the 80's). I went out last night after posting this and walked a mile. My kids were on their bikes and literally riding circles around me. They would race up 3-4 blocks, then turn around and come back and swoop around me, and then be off again.

    Gotta run! More later, MT3

Hi everyone, Ya'll sound like me--the weight is coming on instead of going off! :(

However, I am happy because my oldest graduated this past weekend! There are pics on Facebook. Maybe I'll post a few here for those FB phobics! ;)

I'm going to try to eat more healthfully and exercise as I can (Still having trouble with my feet and shins). I have a goal of losing as much as I can before a wedding on July 5th. Pray for me (as I pray for you)! :)

Deena, congratulations to your son and to his wonderful and loving parents!:D

My mom left early Sunday morning. My dad came to pick her up so I was able to see him for a few minutes. He looks so old and tired. Sometimes I think there is something seriously wrong with his health. He is a heavy smoker, two packs a day, and his skin looks so aged.:(
Still, it is always wonderful to see him. Ems was able to play the piano for him. He loved it of course.

Our dear Poppet is gone. She was jumping so much that we went from putting her on the leash only at night to keeping it on her all day. She hated it. So we would let her off of it, take her for walks, play with her, but the second we came in, she was over the fence and in the street again. I just couldn't stand being responsible if she caused a crash. So we took her to the Human Society and they said she will definitely be adopted out, not euthanized. PTL!!!!
They said she is very desirable since she is a purebred Lab. They will make sure that the next owner knows she is a professional jumper. LOL

No matter what we tried, she wanted to jump. We broke our other Lab of his bad habits using The Dog Whisperer books. I love his methods. Still, with Poppet she needs somebody who can dedicate full days breaking her because that is pretty much what it was boiling down to.

So we are praying for a good dog. Ever since we put Handsome down in December, we have been looking for another large dog. Poppet was the first and she was great but the jumping was too much.

Now that my mom is gone, I am eating better. I actually ate my fruits and veggies today. I probably drank more tea than water but still kissed my family.

Good morning! This is your #1 Facebook Phobic fan speaking. Yes, we'd greatly enjoy seeing pictures! I'll check back later to see if you post them on this thread or on another.

I'll also check to see if you have added updates about your daughter's ministry.

Yep, prayers are so effective! It may be fascinating in heaven to watch behind-the-scenes videos from these days and see how God took our prayers, interwove them with His will, and gave each other opportunities and strength that we wouldn't have had otherwise.

MT3--I'm smiling at the digestion analogy of your pastor. If you care to, tell him thanks from "Prairie" at the Home School Spot. That's a "classic!" So eat the nutritious dishes today, everyone, and let the fluff go on by.

    Hi gang.

PH- I'll let Pastor know (although the thoughts on digestion were from me.). He really gets on a roll with "fluff" churches and 7-11 songs (seven words repeated 11 times). Thank you for your thoughts also on the video in heaven. That'd be interesting to go "ah-HA"- so THAT'S why!

Deena- I'm right behind PH in the FBPhobia! So pictures here would be appreciated! :) I'll add you to prayer for the wedding in July.

((Patty))- how hard to give up your Poppet. But if she was continuing to jump, etc, then having a place with room, and/or someone to train her will be better. Our lab was scrawny when we got him (55 lbs), but is about 90 now and much healthier. We like the large dogs better too.

How's everyone? I am doing better this week. I walked a mile on Sunday, and last night DS #3 and I took a bike ride together. We didn't go as far as HE wanted to go, but I'm able to walk this morning without being stiff, so it was just right!

Time to run for now. I'll chat with y'all later!

Awww, Patty, sorry about Poppet! :( Hopefully you can find just the right dog for your family! I'm sure Poppet will find a loving home!

    Prairie, Thanks! :)

Prairie and MT3--I DID put a new thread with three grad pics up in the "Other Conversation: Restricted" area.

I will try to get in more exercise today. My dh and ds15 have colds, and this morning dd and I woke up with throats that are a bit sore. I DON'T WANT A COLD!!! I have been trying to take care f myself, so I hope it doesn't get any worse!

UPDATE ON DD's MINISTRY: She just found out yesterday that a man that worked it the place they're going through for this project died in February. He left a very large amount of money to that place, and $10,000. of it was awarded to the playground project dd is working on! She was so excited! So, that means they have "only" $20,000 to raise now! Our church has a 10-day HUGE Campmeeting coming up, and the girls were allowed to have a booth for their group. They're hoping to get their name out, recruit some more kids, and hopefully get some donations for this current playground project! That's the latest update.

We also have a website being worked on, not complete but getting better, for the womens group 2 friends of mine and I started in February. I can only give that address out privately, so if anyone is interested and I know you, you can pm me for that.

I am so excited to see God working in these ways! Thanks for the prayers for that and for me getting the exercise I need!

I thought Poppet was such a sweet name, Patty, as I'm sure your pup was. I'm sorry, too.
On your other topic: it's kind of sad to see one's parents get older. Strange--now my children tell me that I'm in that category!

Update on my food processor: I never knew what I was missing out on! I tell you what, I can slice through onions, cabbage, cucumbers, potatos, carrots, and green peppers like nobody's business these days! I'm experiementing on using the two lower blades vs. the top slicer in order to chop nuts--still not too good at that.

What I'd do differently next time: A 10 or 11 cup bowl is too small. I have to empty it out too often. I'd like a 14-cup if I ever get another one. Also, I'd be SURE to get an extra wide-mouth opening, so I could put whole vegetables in.

Other than that, this little Ham.Beach is light-weight, easy to handle, easy to clean, and it's fine for now.

Deena, at the first sign of a sore throat, gargle with a T. of apple cider vinegar in 1/2 c. warm water. Continue that every 1/2 hour or so until the symtoms clear up. This remedy works for a number of people I know. If you want to knock the symptoms even faster, add a bit of red pepper and 1/2 t. salt. Congratulations on the responsibility which your daughter is being entrusted with!

MT3, it sounds like you and your children are having just too much fun with this exercise thing! I can imagine your neighbors looking out the window at the bicycling drama/parade thinking, "There that homeschool family goes again! That's all they ever do--is have fun!"

Well, keep it up! Way to go!

Deena, it is wonderful to hear how God is working in your daughter's life.

Thanks, Ladies, for the kind words about Poppet. Ems decided that our next dog, assuming it is a girl, will be named Poppet also. She said Poppet wasn't around long enough to claim the name. LOL :D I am glad because I really like the name.

Well, I received good news. My blood pressure is down. I figure it is down because I have cut back on the salt and most of the fast foods. I did eat some when my mom was here but because I have cut back over all, it has made a difference. It was also a huge incentive to cut fast food out completely. My mom's side of the family is riddled with blood pressure problems. I do not want to take meds for it so I was pleased to hear it was way down. I can't remember what the bottom number was but the top was 118. For me that is wonderful. When I was in the emergency it was 180 over something.
So I am doing the happy dance. LOL

Hello all. Can I toot my own horn here at how PROUD I am of my DS?? He set a goal to walk in the ACS Cancer walk this weekend- he wanted to walk 50 laps around the track and raise more than $200. Well, we participated last night. DS walked 54 laps=13.5 miles=a half marathon!!! He has a couple of blisters on his feet, and is a little stiff but he did AWESOME!! He also raised about $400!! We walked until about 3:15 this morning. He had some "help" from his brothers and from his best friend, but I also tried to help by walking many of the laps with him. I'm happy to report that I walked 40 laps= 10 miles!!!! (I am a lot more stiff than he is, but not too bad!!) lol

I just wanted to share. Oh, and what made me almost as proud of him... he noticed a woman trying to pull a stroller down the concrete stairs while carrying a baby, and DS veered off the track and up the stairs to carry the stroller down for her. It made my heart smile!

I'll chat with you all later (there are several of your posts I want to answer!), but for tonight I am off to bed!!

Drink your water and kiss your kids! MT3
