Thanks Sam I really like those links and intend to spend more time browsing them later today.

Jackie I know what you mean it does feel good to toss stuff into the compost instead of the trash! I actually enjoyed my time cutting up pulled up corn stalks - I know what a dork am I?? lol! Now if I could just manage to get out of the burbs and into the country sooner than our plan I'd be in heaven!

don't forget if you have something like watermelons/tomato/anything with seeds dry some of them out and save them. You can use that nice good compost to have your own veggie/fruit garden next year!

I was going to put my corn husks in the compost but the sheep ate them instead hehe. Sometimes its a toss up to either chickens or compost :D Who needs a garbage disposal! ;)

What I really wish I had were chickens! Then I could have fresh eggs and a little something for the compost bin.

I didn't think about saving seeds. I will have to do that.

I am going to call my dad today for a bit of help. He and my uncle and grandpa have had gardens since the early 1900s and I need to know when to plant what for our area. He sure would know so I am going to ask him to write down the planting and harvesting times for different fruits and veggies.

Check on craigslist for things like chicken poop it is great for a compost bin. Sometimes people are giving their chicken coop bedding away for free.

You might be allowed to get chickens in your area. Here is a great site for people who have back yard chickens. http://www.backyardchickens.com/ we were going to get chickens till we decided to travel.

You know, I never thought of that, Stone! I've a hs'ing friend who lives just outside the "city limits" who has chickens. I'm sure she'd be more than willing to let me have some chicken poop (after she laughed her head off, that is, lol!)
