Sorry the update took so long, but we just got him home today. Baby Logan was born on the 22nd (Monday) at 6:53pm and weighed 9lbs 9ounces and was 20 inches long. He's got lots of dark hair and brown eyes. Logan was born and took his first breath and cried but then for some reason he stopped breathing and his heartrate dropped. The neonatal team was called in and they got him breathing using a ventilator which was taken off 45 minutes later. Then he had a cpap for 8 hours just to be sure his lungs were inflating enough. We weaned him off the iv fluids and began to feed him and were all set to bring him home Thursday morning but then his billirubin spiked to 17.8 from 7.6 in less than 24 hours from his last check. He was put on massive phototherapy using one billiblanket, and 5 billi lights. Yesterday at 10 am we removed 2 lights, and then when his levels continued to drop we removed 2 more at 8pm, this morning at 6 am the final light and blanket were removed and when his bili levels stayed steady after 12 hours of no phototherapy he was finally released from the hospital. We are all doing well now I'm just a little tired since I've been with him round the clock since he was born. we are all just glad to have Logan home with us finally.
He is absolutely beautiful!!!Congratulations! I am so glad that despite a few initial problems that you are all doing well. Thank God for a safe delivery and your beautiful baby boy. I'll continue praying for you both. Get some rest, and please update when you're able. God Bless, LR
Congratulations! He's a cutie! What a scary start to life, though. I'm so glad to hear that everything is OK and he's home with his family now.
oh so he wants to scare you and be stubborn right from the start......... mine did too. Congratulations
CONGRATS!!! 2 of my 3 were "glo-worms" too....with bili-blankets Glad Logan is doing well and that you are all home!
Congrats!! He is very very handsome!! Did you have gestational diabetes? I didn't test as having it with my Reagan, but he had many of the same issues.. and they told me that he showed classic signs of a GD baby??? He had issues with breathing, had issues with maintaining his sugar level and had a good battle against jaundice. He was born at least 3 weeks early and weighed 9lbs 5oz.
Sommer, I didn't test positive for it when she did my sugar test. I didn't have it with my other boys either. Maybe I had it but they missed it??? He's doing much better now, can't even tell he was sick from the start. He's eating just like a normal baby...though he does eat more than a typical newborn...he's having latch issues so while we work that out he's having my expressed milk and he's taking in almost 4 ounces every 3 hours. Thanks everyone for all your congrats and well wishes. Mister Logan is doing great now, keeping his jaundice down as far as I can tell, we'll have him checked again tomorrow morning at his ped office. Though by tomorrow his liver should be ready to take care of it on it's own since he'll be 7 days old. I'm just thankful that my Doctor decided to transfer me to another hospital to induce labor because we would not have had a NICU for him had we been at the closer hospital and I don't want to even think of how things could have turned out had Logan not had the excellent medical care he got at this hospital.
What a darling little boy! I'm sorry that the first few days were so hard, but glad to hear he is home and doin well now.
