I am new to this site but not to homeschooling. I have been homeschooling my daughters, now ages 16 and 12, since they were 5 and 9. I recently adopted a son who has special needs and I am considering homeschooling him as well. My 16 year old graduated highschool this spring and my 12 year old is in 6th-7th grade depending on the subject. My son is 6 and will be starting kindergarten this fall. I hope to get to know you all. Anything else you want to know just ask!
We love the homeschooling laws here, though we have had some trouble due to the fact that we adopted some of our children through the OKDHS and most of the caseworkers we have come in contact with were very against homeschooling. They actually wanted me to state that I wouldnt homeschool my newest adopted child and we feared the adoption would not go through due to our homeschooling, thankfully we had a good attorney who helped ensure our son would remain a part of our family. Many families I know here have also had trouble with truancy when removing their children from public school. One mom I know sent the intent to homeschool letter 5 times (last time certified mail- requiring the principals sig) before the truant officers would quit hounding her. Thanks to everyone for the nice welcome, hope to get to know you better Lora
