http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Roasted-Cajun-Potatoes/Detail.aspx I made these but I used regular potatoes cut in big slices, I used a stick of margarine (Imperial) with a tiny bit of olive oil...... I used fresh garlic but would use garlic powder instead because real will burn........ I also omited the cyenne pepper and used a premixed cajun seasoning, instead of the shallots (I was going to use onions but then the kids would see them so I used onion powder) ........ok so I switched almost every ingredient, except the pepper and the paprika........ but they were really good.
So you cook like me. I always change things up. Well maybe not always, but I do it a lot. Now I just dive in without a recipe and hope for the best. I may have to try the potatoes they sound yummy.
I'm SO glad to know I'm not the only one who says things like...I followed the recipe except for changing...! LOL! But you're right - most of the time it turns out good! And those sound delish!
I'll have to try this too, it looks yummy! I'm another who doesn't cook with a recipe. My dh does not like to cook, he CAN cook, he just doesn't like it. When he does cook, he follows recipes EXACTLY! Takes after his mom! Both dh's dad and I cook by using some of this and some of that, and oh, how about a little of this stuff, which my mil and dh can't understand!
my kids are starting to take my lead........ and I have to keep telling DS that NUTMEG does not go in spaghetti sauce and that dill weed does not go in cinnamon rolls.
