Our youngest daughter, Emily, has never seen the ocean. We are hoping to make a trip next summer to the beach, but our older daughter and son in law asked if they could take her with them from Friday to Sunday to a reunion at the Christian camp where my son in law worked years ago. I wanted to be with her when she got to see the ocean for the first time but I hated to say she couldn't go. So then they moved it to Thursday to Sunday. I still agreed that she could go. So then they called last night and they said they were going to leave today and would be back on Monday. I am not sure how I will make it until Monday without seeing Emily but they just drove off. I miss her already! She is my heartbeat and without her home it feels empty around here. Okay I am starting to panic so I better go find something to do. They promised to call me later on today and make plenty of pictures. I never told them how much this hurts me not to be there with her. She adores Katie so they will have a great time together. But when they get back Emily is all mine! Please pray for traveling mercies for them. Thanks, Beth

Emily is having a wonderful time. She calls several times a day. They have been to Wilmington to the battleship and she enjoyed it even though it was hot. They played putt putt one night and walked to the end of the island to see the tidal pools. She saw a shark while they were on the pier. She called today and they are now at Caswell for the reunion. They don't have any planned activities until tomorrow. There is a luau tomorrow and an ice cream social sometime. Maybe Sunday after church. I don't remember. She and Katie plan on doing some things while Richard visits with his old friends. I am so glad Emily got to go on this trip. You never know when she might have to be away from me for some reason and this is good practice. But I sure will be glad to see Monday get here! Beth

Sounds like she is having a great time!

Ems is going camping with her friend in two weeks. This will be her first time camping with her friend or any friend for that matter. LOL

At first I was hesitant but then I really thought about it and I know that they will take good care of her. If the family wasn't a friend of ours, I would probably not allow it but since we know them, my mind is set at ease. A little that is! LOL

For some reason, this camping trip seems like a big step for Ems; in a positive way.

Patty, I know what you mean. I feel like Emily has made a big step by being away from me for this long. She is 11 now, but a real homebody. She loves being with me and her daddy. I miss her so much but I feel like she needed this. I am just afraid of letting go of any part of her being my baby girl. Well, afraid isn't the right word. More like sad to see it slipping away. She is a young lady now and not a baby. I will always cherish the gift God gave us when he sent her to us. I enjoyed every second of her being an infant, a toddler and so on. It was like one last chance and I loved it and still do. Katie loves her as much as I do if that is possible so I have not been worried about her safety at all. That made it easier to let her go. She will be home Monday and she calls me every day so I am doing okay. I hope the camping trip is lots of fun for Emma. How long will she be gone? Beth

She will only be gone for four or five days! LOL

For me, the parent who peeps her head in the bedroom door to make sure Ems is sleeping soundly at night, four days is an eternity.:D
