Hi, I just wanted to check if it's okay that I'm here, since I'm neither a banned "homeschool student" nor a welcomed "homeschool teacher," and yet a homeschooler to the core (now I feel like the object of a riddlle... ) I was a homeschool kid back in the day, but I'm 26 and all growed up now. The HS group I grew up in has dispersed (as we're wont to do), and those I've stayed close with are the individuals whose lives have followed similar paths and been my friends, but the community as a functioning whole is gone, so I was curious to hook up with the larger community and see what was out there. If this doesn't seem appropriate to the group you've formed I'll happily leave you in peace, but if you don't mind me poking about and putting my oar in occasionally I'd love to stop a spell cheers, -Andy (Miranda)
Welcome! I think your perspective would be great on this forum! We are mainly parents who are homeschooling our children. I attended public school my entire life, but I am choosing a different path for my son (at least for now).
Delightful! My time is irregular so my attendance will probably be similarly spotty, but I'm excited to poke about and get to know you darlings For my own history (since I haven't really done a proper introduction yet): my parents were privately educated and thought it was a tremendous waste of time, so my sister and I were raised sans-curriculum (for our sins) and have got on peculiarly but rather well all told. Her career is a great deal more glamorous than mine since she's a circus aerialist, but I'm quite contented as a Women's Studies student and working as a theatrical technician. I certainly intend to continue my (non)educational tradition - should I ever get around to procreating - but until that time I'll make do with all my generative friends (many of whom have opted not to put their little creatures into institutions) for whom I'm a willing auntie and do my best to help in raising their progeny.
